This evening I was out back working on the pool ladder while Zander was walkin around on the patio blowin his sceery howler and Kee's destroyer call. Low and behold a coyote appears in the fresh cut wheat field behind the house at about 175 yards with nose in the air and lookin for the sounds he had just heard. I told Zander to freeze while I snuck to the garage to get my rifle, when I got back to him the coyote had disapeared behind a hill. I told Zander to start blowin the Kees call again softly, after a series of calls the coyote trots out from behind the hill at about 80 yards and I put it down. My shot did not kill it instantly so Zander got to finish his coyote off with his 22 cricket. He is on cloud 9 tonight and really givin his older brother a good ribbin about him callin a coyote in before Thane has.

I'm proud of him, as he is only 6 years old, he handled the excitement of the coyote and me coaching him real well and coaxed the coyote in. I've got a couple of future coyote callers on my hands. Thane has been practicing his shooting and hopefully he can hit his first coyote this year yet!

Just kiddin you guy's from Texas [Wink]

Way to go Zander and Dad!
He dresses sort of like George Ackley when he hunts. Those will now become his lucky coyote calling shorts and sandals. [Smile] Very nice, indeed!

Thanks everyone for the kind words..well umm..except for the "Blank" comment by the old fart [Razz]

These 2 boy's have been blowin Predator and turkey calls since they could, without chokin on them [Eek!]

They like to call coyotes more than any other hunting, which is cool with me, cause I'm right with them.

This coyote baffled me, 80 yards from the back of the house in broad daylight. Sure we call em in during daytime here but this one takes the cake for approaching towards the back of my house and shooting it from the back patio. [Big Grin]

No, but I could give it a try. Most of its been messin with the male, and my neighbors, in the middle of the night. lol

I have been wanting to take the dogs down there to play grab ass, that would make for good footage. But Im afraid they would move out? And I really dont want to kill them.

BTW, Higgins, I dont think Im on the verge of gettin kicked out just yet, but my neighbor did make mention of the coytoes gettin real close to the houses on certain nights.

Key word being Coyotes. Its actually one coyote and me with a Krusty Krier. [Big Grin]

That males, or I assume its the male, is easy to fire up on some nights. Just a few barks and howls and hes right there givin me the business.

Congradulations to the boy!

I've got a few of those Texas coyotes hung up here in Kentuckiana too Canine. I've called them up a couple times- stand selection comes down to the BP station or the UPS store. They get a little antsy in front of the UPS store... I'm thinking about trying some misting.

Some day we'll all have to head to Texas for the last truely "challenging" coyote hunt. [Smile]
