Not enough information here, furndirt. Jeff Mock of the infamous tirade on defunct website. He is a promoter of some show or other in Las Crusus. Somebody, some group objected and now he is moving his show to Tucson?

I still don't know enough, you know the four W's, etc.?

Good hunting. ElBee

I don't talk to Mock (even though we live in the same town), so I don't have the 411 from him..

I was surprised that it's coming to Tucson. I guess SCI is hosting..

However, I heard that he was tired of fighting protesters in NM. Here's an article that might give some insight..

Jeff is stupid for bringing that convention to Tucson because Tucson is the liberal hot bed of Arizona. The group that pushed hard for a contest hunting ban many years ago is based in that town. Their name escapes me. I'm sure Jay Nisetter remembers their name. He led the charge to protect contest hunts in Arizona. Do you copy Jay?

Animal Defense League of Arizona led by a gal named Lisa (?). They also brought in some gay dude from California for the Fund for Animals.

We were damn close to losing local club contests competing for plastic trophies.

The Commission had several public meetings (with ARMED DPS). The meeting brought out all the old ladies. who testified before the Commission telling stories how they NEVER see coyotes anymore while riding their ATC's with their families. One lady said that she never sees moose anymore. It was pitiful watching the G&F Commission let their dribble go on without shutting them down and setting them straight.

No word was ever said against Big Deer Contests, Fishing Contests, Birding or the factual need for controlling predators. The average hunter is essentially an extension of the Game and Fish to help control populations and keep watchful eyes for their ability to police their game laws.

We even had hunters against contest hunts focussed around coyotes. Pete Cimmilaro was the biggest POS traitor of all. We met to talk about the evils of predator contests. He brought along the president of the Arizona Deer Association. Pete proceeded to tell me and 2 of my friends that Predator Hunters were the "Black Eye" of the hunting community. Wrong thing to say. It was not secret that Pete had political aspirations.

It was a sham and the Commission ultimately decided to make contests illegal. Everyone thought it was a done deal.

We took the matter before the Governor's Regulatory Review Council and presented our case.
The Council slapped the G&F attornies hard stating that a small group of people (ADL) cannot force their will on another small group (predator hunters). Other comments revolved around the fact that the G&F Commission did NOT perform any Economic Impact Study nor did they have any predator control plan in their books. Private social betting among groups of hunters over a weekend whether involving misses or kills would ve virtually uncontrollable whether involving birds or predators depending on the season.

Bottom line is that a few of us refused to conceed or arbitrate as it was known from the start that anything involving AR orginizations is pointelss because they want everything and have NOTHING to offer in any negotiation.

Sorry for the rant but Vic got me fired up after 14 years. I pretty much dropped out of the political side of hunting after that.

As far as Mock bringing the PM Hunt to AZ, it has nothing to do with the protestors. You get that anywhere. It was just time for a change of venue. AZ has good hunting and SCI offered their facilities. Appears to be a win-win to me.

I never understood why a few Americans feel the need to try and take away freedoms from other Americans..

Tucson is the liberal bastion of Arizona. It has been that way before Az was a state. I still believe they will get more protesters there than they would if held on a reservation like they have don in the past.

Leonard do I get an official Huntmasters Shit Stirring badge?

All kidding aside, Jay did a great job for us when we really needed someone to step up to the plate and fight those bastards. I remember the President of PVCI at that time, Gary McCraw, giving Jay the Member of the Year award for his work defending our hunting rights. I didn't bring Jay into this thread to stir things up. I brought him in to clarify what happened and to highlight the fact that he was our greatest asset at that time.

Thanks Jay

He's one of those irreplaceable living legends. Irreplaceable; or did I say that already?

Creative and funny, too. Taught Bomba everything he knows. Taught that Nouri character, too. He's always been my mentor and additionally, he's one of the "TWINS" He's a dead ringer for the Professor.

Good hunting. El Bee

Jay,

Great job not being willing to take no for an answer. It's guys like you that make this country what it should be. Good for you and good for the Council that stood up for your rights at that time.

To your efforts (hoists beer)!
