Does anybody here use this program and if so, what do you think? It costs $70.

I have/use Exbal, Leonard. Got it on the PC and also loaded on a cheapo Palm pilot for taking in the field...
There are apps available for smartphones that serve the same purpose, but I'm happy with Exbal.

JBM is a good free program.

Berger ballistics also has a free download for their pills using the G7 drag profile...

Yeah, okay, thanks, knockem. Really, the free programs are more than adequate for most of us.

But, Oehler's Ballistic Explorer does a hell of a lot more than plot drop and estimate velocity. I need to locate a link, brb.

edit: okay here it is: http://www.oehler-research.com/explore.html

check it out. It's a very complete picture, maybe a lot more than most of us care about except the most dedicated.

Looks very comprehensive.
The graphing capabilites are surely one up on Exbal. Seems to me like Exbal is more bare bones 'utilitarian'. It gives me my dope, I prove it & tweek the data values as needed to make it jive with what's happening in a given set of conditions. Then, I rely on a printed drop chart that stays with the rifle...

IIRC, I gave almost a c-note for Exbal a few years back? Priced as it is, I'd say the Oehler program is worth the cabbage, comparatively speaking...

Still can't beat getting behind the rifle and proving all that data, though. And alot more fun!

Did ya decide to purchase yet, Leonard?

Nope, not ready. I'd love to hear from somebody that is currently using this program.

Leonard

I have used BEX for about 10 years. Have tried others since but always go back to BEX.

I like how you can compare 3 at a time loads or traces as BEX calls them.

Yeah, no kidding. I remember exactly when was the last time he posted, must have been 5 years ago this week?

Suspicions confirmed though, it's a good comprehensive program.

Thanks, El Bee

I'm currently using it, and have been for a number of years. I like it. I just ordered the latest version of it after I changed computers and lost my old version.
