Don't know if any of you have tried this. I bought some to run in my AR until I get a small base die to work up some new handloads.

Bought 3 boxes out of the same lot, and went out last weekend for a quick session.

I got the .223, 53 gr. VMax load. Was really consistent velocity wise, averaging 3,350 fps out of my 20" bbl. Accuracy was around 1.1"--I think it will do better--I was in a hurry and my shooting showed it.

Hodgdon is selling the Superformance powder, and I am thinking of calling them to see how close I can get to duplicating the factory load.

Looks like a good coyote load!

I've been hearing some chatter about that bullet. What I have heard is the accuracy is not as expected. About what you're looking at, a little over an inch, but nobody is claiming one holers. Personally, I would move up to the 55VMax for coyotes. That's what I use in 223Ackley, in a bolt gun, 23" barrel. My accuracy is decent, well under 1 inch but nowhere near ½".

Anyway, it will be interesting to find out if you can dial in the accuracy and what kind of terminal performance you get.

Good hunting. LB

edit: forgot what I was going to say, duh. The BC on that bullet is very good, so maybe the bearing surface is minimal?

From everything I've been able to find out, the powder Hodgden is selling under the Superformance name is not the same blend Hornady is using in all of the loaded ammo. As a matter of fact, I don't think you'll even find any load data for Superformance powder in .223.

I tried some of it in a couple of calibers and couldn't make anything work to my satisfaction. YMMV.

Yote Yoda shoots the 53 grain Super performance, and has had no run offs, and they shoot great in his JP AR. It would be hard to beat the groups his rifle shoots.
