My buddy says I should bring a shotgun with me to Elko hunt in a couple weeks. (He witnessed my shooting last year and wasn't impressed I guess!) Problem might be that all I've got is an 870 Wingmaster 12g. with fixed full choke. Suckers a looong barrel too. Thoughts on using this thing?? Loren

Load it up with some copper plated lead BB's, #4 buck or some of that Heavy shot that Byron was promoting and have at it.

Shotguns are great for coyote hunting in tight cover or at night.

Well, the two concerns are full choke and that long barrel. I'm worried about swinging on one and getting hooked in a sage 20 feet away. LOL And, does the full choke do pretty well or is it a waste of time? Loren

Full chokes are fine as long as the coyote is more than 10' away when you light the fire. Longer barrels give you a better sight plane and are easier to aim by simply looking over the barrels.

One of my boys uses a full choke on his 12, the other uses a turkey choke. Both work well.
