Im in a pickle, Im not a gunsmith, but a locally known "tinkerer",and wish dearly, guys wouldn't drop off pieces of shit for me to tinker with:)
So I have a Rem M721,in 300H&H, Ive lopped off two inches of barrel(removing a pos muzzle brake) and crowned it,mounts, rings etc, but in the process of cleaning up the absolutely gummy, cruddy action, Ive lost a screw&spring out of the trigger group.
Any of you guys that are taking Remingtons, and making them better, have any trigger groups around you want to let go of cheap? I can't afford to drop my own money into a Timney or other after market trigger to fix my screw up.
I presume a standard M700 trigger group would work in the 721? Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

Vic, would that have been the trigger adjusting screw or the trigger engagement screw or the trigger stop screw? Would that have been the trigger spring?

I'm resisting the urge to disturb bedding but I'm thinking that the screws are slotted head or allen head, "set screw" type of screws in standard twists, like 6-32, 4-40, 8-36, something like that? In other words; available.

On the other hand, Dave probably has a drawer full of surplus Remington triggers? [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

Yep, three different sets of screws/springs in the Remmy trigger group. The one Im missing is in the front,as if you had barreled action in front of you, with barrel facing to the right. The top screw is the trigger stop screw, the bottom is the trigger weight screw/spring, thats the bugger Im missing.
I peeked in Numerich Arms page, christ, Id have to down load catalogs/schematics etc...I just want a gawd damned screw/spring! Anyone haveing one, I will pay twice whats it's worth, and I'll cover the shipping:)

Vic, I know I have an old 700 trigger assembly laying around here. I will look for it, but no promises if I will find it.

Vic, E mail me an address and I will send one out asap. I have one from a timney replacement. How much weight do you want on the trigger. I can set it before shipping.

Vic, I'm not 100% sure that the 700 trigger is interchangable with the 721, but I "think" it is.

If you haven't already got a surplus 700 trigger rounded up by now, just holler, I've got one sitting right here.

Thanks for the help fellas, and I too am not so sure they will interchange? I had hoped the various trigger set screws would be the same, but it sure looks like a whole nother trigger to my eyes?
It may in fact set right in the bottom of the action and work, but I know the safties differ, I think I might have to drag this to a real smith to see if he can fit it up?

Thanks Cajun!, if it's a no-go, I'll shoot it back to you.

Vic, that safety can be taken out or cut off. that bar that flips up is there to lock the bolt closed. in the newer models they are not there. just exchange the safety from the other trigger. watch for that detent ball when you pull that split washer. I cant get to my email from the house so I have to post my number here. If you want to call I can talk you through it.

edit: Thanks Randy
