I got some cat skulls from a friend and i'm bleaching them myself and plan on mounting them on a board according to age. How do i determin there age? Or should i just line them up according to size? When finished i should have a few left over if anyone would like one just let me know...Thanks....T.A.

Tim,
Have you started the bleaching process yet? If so, are you using bleach? if you haven't started, let me know. I might be able to help you out.

Cdog: I put them in a bucket of water and bakeing soda . I let them sit for 3 weeks, then i drained off the water and rinsed. All the flesh is gone and i have nice clean skulls. I soaked them in peroxide for a day or two and now some are sitting out in the sun, to dry the skulls and whiten them.. I will have to glue in a few teeth no big deal, i have plenty...

Cdog: Thanks for the offer to help. I had six skulls laying out today and when i got home from work i checked on them. They are nice and white now and just about dry. I should be able to get the rest done this week-end...

the only true way to age bobcats is a cross section study of the teeth and count the rings, this the most accurate and best method.

I crossed sectioned the teeth of two of the bigger skulls and came up with 3 years old..
