Talked to Gerry yesterday. He has written an article about the Huntmasters Hunt in Oct. that will appear in the next issue of Trapper and Predator Caller. That gives us a little time to come up with some plausible excuses. [Smile]

Yea. Good ink from someone I know quoting people I know! I’m looking forward to Gerry Blair’s account of the event. He (Gerry) has an article on The North American Hunter Website this month too. For those of you who are members it is worth checking out.

Lance has just been busy.

Hey guys, I'm still here. Just been butt deep in you-name-it. Thanks to all on the kind words about the most recent article. And special thanks to Leonard and Byron for their contributions to that piece. I hope it met with your approval in its final form.

Aside from that, I can't seem to keep enough calls made to meet demand. About the time I thought I had enough to let me hunt during my time off, Q went and killed 17 with one, posted the pictures, and three days later, everything I had in stock was gone and I was back at the lathe. (Even had to goose my dad into firing up a second lathe for a couple days there.)

'Bout that same time, I went to Q's place to see if he actually had any coyotes. He's got fewer now then when I got there. Teehee!!! I'm still picking cactus needles out of my fingertips and nursing sore joints and muscles from that trip.

Of course, it is November and, as the saying goes, "In November, taxidermists always have more friends." Having said that, I've been blessed with a few really nice Kansas bucks including this little fella that was taken while he nursed from his mama's teat...
 -

Just kidding. The bases alone have circumferences of nearly eleven inches. This particular buck shows about 205 scorable inches of antler before deductions and the guy that owns it plans/ hopes to sell the finished mount to Cabela's for display. Silly thing about it is that this is only one of three like this I've gotten this week, and one is bigger yet! Due to leasing and excessively liberal tag allotments in Kansas the past three years, I fear my days of doing deer like this one are almost over. BTW, that purty little model is my 6 year old daughter Tabor. She was hesitant to hold the rack because the middle part was still "yucky". LOL

Other than that, I'm still around, checking e/m at 6 in the morning and just before bed, and goin' nuts in between.

Good hunting.

Just finished reading the "A One-Shot Hunt" or was that the "One Shot Can" by Gerry Blair. LOL

Good to see him writing for the T&PC again!

I got my copy tonight. It was a great read, but that picture of the carcass made my stomach turn just from memory.

I couldn't believe how bad that thing stunk, and how long Gerry wanted to talk before snapping the picture. [Roll Eyes]

Classic Gerry Blair with all the witticisms and twists. Enjoyed it immensely.

Just got my copy of T&PC. I like Gerry's stlye. Can't say that I agree with the One-Shot title. If I remember right (and I'm still a bit foggy on this part) 'ol Camp Master Tim Behle was pouring out shot after shot of some real nasty firewater every time the sun went down...Or even got close to going down for that matter. You can plainly see what that stuff did to the poor cow Tim was pointing at in the article.

OK. I was HAD by the Master himself. No sooner did I say I would give Gerry a dollar if he could hit that can from my 4"bbl S&W 65, than we heard a loud POW! and before the can stopped rolling, I was reaching for my wallet to pay the debt. It was pretty doggone funny and Ol Gerry was a grinnin' from ear to ear. Got me again.

Ne'er a mention was givin about Anna. Guess Gerry blotted that part out of his mind so as not to offend any Texicans out there reading below the purty pictures.

Has anybody told Danny that his picture sports half a page in Gerry's article?

Sorry about the snoring Gerry. Should'a heard it before I had it fixed.

Got my copy today. Classic Gerry Blair. No one turns a phrase like he does. " The night sky was so pretty I could only look at it with one eye."
I do enjoy his writing. Thing is he talks just like that in person.

While camping with that bunch, I'm sure Gerry had enough sense to keep his other eye on his Backside. LOL
