I started the day off hunting gophers and after a couple of hours i decided to call it a day. On my way back to town i spotted something along the creek about 300 yards from the road. I parked my truck behind some tree's and proceded to sneak in on the creature. I got to with-in a 100 yards and the creature turned and looked in my direction, i slowly went to the ground and waited for the creature to look off in a different direction. When it looked in the oppisite direction i started to low crawl until i was about 50 yards away. I took a few pic's with my camera and then just watched this creature. I started to do some chirps with my mouth on my hand and sucking. The creature looked in my direction and i took some more pic's, then all of a sudden another one appeared from the tree's. I made some more chirps and they started to come closer to me, and a third one showed up also from the tree's. I made some sounds with my voice and they seemed to like what they where hearing so i did it a few more times and mixed in some chirps. I took some more pic's and thought to my self, Rich H. should be here to see this event. I kept teaseing them with my chirps and vocals and got them to with-in 30-35 yards, the sweet is starting to come out of my poors, i'm laying here with just a camera and no gun and they are close. I thought what would Leonard do if he was in the same situation? I know! I'll just stand up. I did and all hell broke loose, they ran off in three different directions.. LOL

Gophers? Those look like 13 lined ground squirrels to me. Great pictures. And a very interesting day, indeed.
