Helping out with a predation partnership in central Nevada and I need photos of damaged, wounded, dead, half-eaten, predator killed livestock.
If you care to share, I need as big a photo as you can send, and I'll give you another email address I use for hi-speed when I go to town. My dialup here at home just doesn't cut it for sending big attachments.

True. A carcass chewed on by coyotes is not an indictment, but they will get the blame for the kill 99% of the time.

Tell me more about this partnership. I have access to lots of photos.
NASA, while true that some predation gets blamed on coyotes that they didn't do, they do plenty and it's really not that hard to tell the difference. Just takes a strong stomach and a sharp knife.

Vick's Vapor rub in the nose helps a lot too.
3 Toes, coyotes may do a lot of damage in the more remote western states. But once you get East of the big river, I'd bet that 70%+ of "Coyote Kills" are kills made by domestic dogs.

No question about it. Peeling off the hide will tell you a lot about who the perpetrator is. But truth be told, very few people, including the rancher, will bother to go to the trouble. It's easier to blame the coyote.
There is a calving pasture I drive past on the way to work. In the spring there are 3-4 coyotes who work those fields cleaning up afterbirth and stillborns. Every year co-workers tell me they saw coyotes killing newborn calves in that field. It just wasn't so. I've talked to the farmer before and at least he understands. But he said as soon as a calf is killed, I can come in and depopulate them.

The idea is to put experienced coyote shooters together with ranchers and to include each in a directory so a rancher can call someone for help if he perceives a danger to his livestock - other than the USDA, who has temporarily grounded their fixed wing fliers.
I even like the chosen name for the organization - Ranchland Security.

Ill admit a coyote get's blamed for some things he doesn't do, when he keeps moving cows trying to calf along with spinning a cow until she tramples the calf, deaths occur. Push cattle around a pasture till they get a calf either thru a fence where mom can't protect him or into the fence and get him, or just come in and take one down! Most people would be suprised to see what they can do in cattle.
Sheep, it's just a buffet!!! Big little it's just dead.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of their effectiveness at killing livestock. But I was just pointing out that not all do. And those that don't, more often than not, get swept up in the same net of guilt. However, none of this changes how much I like to shoot them.

The USDA was grounded for a couple weeks after the Utah crash, but has been flying again since about the 20th of June. I'm not trying to stir anything, but your info is pretty flawed Nahuatl. Your program sounds great, the problem is usually that there aren't enough experienced coyote hunters and all the less experienced want in on the same deal.
Tim, I don't doubt you on the eastern predation.
NASA, I agree that some ranchers are quick to blame coyotes. Some really know their stuff also. Here there are several different predators that could be at blame, so everyone has to pay a little more attention to detail.

Have you noticed that ADC work is showing up more and more in the published aticles, and the video world?
Is this to sensationalize the coyote calling or was it just a good place to shoot some coyotes because they were locked on a calving herd and easy to find.
Most look at it as a good place to get some easy footage first etc. vs shutting down the killing. There not coming back to mop up afterwards when it's still going on. What's the rancher going to do then, next on the list!

Hence the pictures to be used as a management and training tool, to help ranchers whether they actually need a coyote shooter or not. It's actually about shooting problems, and not putting blame in the wrong place. Inside the hide would be more than I would expect.
Flawed info or not, restart or not, the planes quit flying after the crash. I don't shoot from planes. But I know enough to avoid shooting a man's stock, pipes, tanks, house, barn, or wife - and that's what the service is looking for. Coyote wise marksmen to help ranchers when they actually need it.
I don't need a debate, just some photos for a guy in Reno who'd like to see a local answer to a local problem without involving Federal Government, bureaucrats, and your tax dollars.
