They are talking about the "refugees" from New Orleans. Seems that they are models of stellar citizenry.... This is the link to the conversation: http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8053
We got 800 in Tucson. I own a trucking company and exactly 5 days after they arrived I started noticing footprints in the truck yard that weren't made by boots which most of my guys wear, so I camped out one night and caught 6 of them climbing up on the trucks lookin in to see what they could find... I racked the slide on the ol' 870 an hit the light mounted in the forearm, ordered em down, etc.
One of them says "man ya can't shoot us, ya'll go to jail". I hit the touch pad for the laser puttin the dot on the middle of his chest and asked him, "Do you see that backhoe sittin on the lowboy trailer behind me........?" He says "Mutha F***** that redneck shit is bullshit", and took a step forward. So I hit him with the rubber slug just left of his left collar bone, spun his ass right into the dirt. His buddies hit the dirt so fast I could hardly see em through the dust. He was squirmin around on the ground screaming and crying when the Sherriffs deputies arrived.
One of the Deputies informed all 6 that they were now in Arizona and that it's a common practice for residents of Arizona to protect themselves with lethal force! The deputy (I know and am friends with most of them as I used to be with the Highway Patrol here) shook my hand. As they watched, one of em kept screaming that I started it and that I was just looking for trouble etc. The cops pointed out that it was them that was inside of the FENCED 2 acre truck yard marked every 20 feet on the fence with NO TRESPASSING signs........
These low lifes are gonna have to learn the hard way about SOUTHERN Arizona........ Phoenix is full of California transplanted liberals that don't like commin' to Tucson where its very common to see sidearms carried in plain sight, not to mention all the ones ya don't see carried by CCW holders........

He right about one thing, it's not uncommon at all to see someone wearing a gun down here.
I see at least one person a day down in Douglas with open carry, and nearly every time I go up to Elfrida for gas, there is someone in the station with a sidearm.
After I get home from work, I'm the same way. It' may only be a 17 HMR, or it may be a 45 ACP. or something in between. I'll let the bad guys wonder which I carry on which day.
-------------------- Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass kickin'.

One of the things that I really liked while hunting in Az., is that the people there did not give the big "lookover" as you stepped up to the counter to pay for a soda, wearing your pistol. It is nice to be able to responsibly exercise a right and not have everybody act offended when you do.
That is not always the attitude here, or other states that I have been. In Az. it didn't seem to be just a rural thing.
It just adds to the allure of the "Mecca" .
