Well, it's finally over with. This past friday we were setting in the courtroom waiting for the restitution hearing because he was contesting it by saying he broke into my house, took the money but didn't take the jewelry.
His attorney got up and spoke, and I will never forget these beautiful words coming from her mouth, "Your Honor, we are no longer contesting the restitution."
I could have screamed with excitement at that moment but managed to keep it together. Then the judge started "fishing" I wasn't sure where that came from but he finally got a big one on his hook when his attorney admitted that he had a previous prior of burglary... a fact that was kept from the judge at the sentencing hearing. I found out later that a certain someone made sure that the judge was aware of that little fact that they were trying to keep secret.
Then the judge changed his sentencing... smiles. Yuppers... He sure did. His original sentence was going to be 9-16 monthes in the county lock-up with work release. His new sentence is now... 1-5 years in the state pen... along with he has to pay back my insurance company $3419.02 AND he has to pay me a little over $6600.00
He will be given a job as soon as he hits the state pen for minumun wage. If his parole comes up after say three years and he has not paid the restitution back yet, he is not allowed to be released. He must pay the entire amounts back before he can get released. The judge told me that it would probably him serving at least 3 1/2 years to four in the pen to work off his sentence.
So now... it's time for me to fully start healing. No more hearings... I can finally rest. I don't even know how I will get my money, if it comes weekly, or if the insurance company gets theirs first or what... however is fine with me... it's finally over!
Just thought you would all like to know.
A year later... but nonetheless... Justice Has Been Served ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

I am glad you got some kind of "justice" from the "legal" system.

My sympathies go out to you Crow Woman (for being robbed that is). I got broken into a number of years ago and they took a lot of things that could never be replaced.
Also, my congratulations to you for them catching the bastards and you at least getting some justice.
