An oldie but a goody - "harvest".
Oh, and for the gun writers, one that gets the writer automatically put on my "skip his articles from now on" list - "...when I do my part".

I'm not in complete and total agreement... A harvest or two, when I do my part, followed by a good DRT certainly deserves a "WTF???????".......
Harvest is something we do to veggies and fruits. That one bothers me more than most. If you have killed something do not confuse it with gardening - period, and WTF?

Can we include all text messaging lingo?

Tim, as usual, you miss the point, bigtime . Hey, there's another one!
The subject is about overused words, not words that have long since been banned. You wordsmiths out there; 'splain him, no?
You can use ****** , I have 'splained you before; start w/ the numeral "1" and add "ndian", and you get 1ndian.
Good hunting. LB

But Tata,
Why do you ban the words to discribe you favorite honey hole, and keep sending them to coyoteless McNeal? Everyone who has hunted this area knows that the coyotes have all been wiped out by Dirk Digler. Hell I have to travel and hour or more just to find one to shoot at.

Coyoteless McNeal? Second year in a row the Foxpro contest will be won in McNeal, according to my sources? That's not my definition of coyoteless.
Good hunting. LB
and, PS, doesn't the Coyote God deserve a little credit, as well?

Tata,
I do give the credit to Vic, he is the TRUE Coyote God. But that is exactly why we don't have many coyotes in this valley. Dirk piles them up as fast as they can breed.
Combine that with a few prick Ranchers, who lock off the access gates to public land, then have the Aerial gunners kill the rest.
Did you kill more coyotes the day that you hunted with us, or on your last hunt south of Why?
Speaking of writers, someone needs to come out and get Vic's story. Have you noticed that he is one of the very few who knows how to successfully use a dog for hunting coyotes in the winter?

Here's my two cents worth Leonard. I grind my teeth, everytime I see or hear the word "awesome" in refference to hunting. Reminds me of those gawd awful TV hunting shows, you know the ones with the dudes up in an insulated, fabricated stand, overlooking a "sendero" with shelled corn scattered around. One of the fat dudes starts stuttering and breathing hard when a buck ambles into the open ground, wacks it, then waddles his fat ass out of the stand and out to the deer. Lots of high fives, more stuttering and hard breathing....then the dreaded word spews out of someones mouth...AWESOME, I could throw up. Ditto on the "DRT" I hate that one too. Hey; can anyone tell me, why in those TV hunting shows, after the guy has wacked the deer, either with a bow or rifle, it's obviously dead, why on earth, do they continue to whisper?

South of where? Wyoming? Yeah, there.
Yeah, right Dirk, or whatever you want to be called? Coyote God fits, for sure. You are "wacking them and stacking them" nicely. Why is it they whisper? But, hey, don't be mean to us fat guys!
Good hunting. LB

LOL, no offense taken Leonard. I've been around here long enough to have shed my thin skin for something e bit more armor-like. I was confused at first. I couldn't, for the life of me, recall ever using the acronym "WTF" in an article. Don't plan to, either. Then again, it might have been in the same article that I supposedly quoted WhiteMtnCur in, although I have everything I've ever written and don't find it anywhere. But, I digress.
Krusty, I can't use "out west" anymore? Heck, man, from where you type, there ain't no more "out west". Everything, to you, is "back East".
So, what y'all are saying is that you would prefer I stick strictly to the King's English? One problem: I don't speak English. I speak American. I write American, too. No apologies.
I promise to work toward correcting my deficiencies.
And yes, we can include all text messaging acronyms.

Produce, produces or produced.
Any of the three when used in reference to anything hunting related. Irritating. I can't even bring myself to give you guys and example but I'm sure one will show up.

I quit smoking over two years ago and regardless of "will" I am one of those fat guys. 30-35lbs gain w/o any appreciable caloric intake. I went from a healthy and happy weight (6'1" 200lbs) to being one of the fat guys at 6'1" and 235.
Makes me want to "harvest" something...........

Oh, oh! I hate "weapon" used in a sporting context. Firearm, shotgun, rifle, and gun work better, for me.

Been trapping for nearly thirty years and never heard that phrase used in a trapping context. Have heard "making a set", "punching in (a) set(s)", and "laying steel". That last one sounds painful.
But, "setting a stand" is new to me as trapping jargon, so that must be one of those West Coast things.
Also, to me, a weapon is a device used to inflict harm on another person, be it a knife, gun, or putter. A gun is a cannon-sized device used to take the place of a shitload of little weapons when less is not best. Gun doesn't gimme enough information. I'd prefer the speaker to use the proper descriptor for the device he uses, specifically shotgun, rifle, blunderbuss... whatever, because each has it's own distinct application in calling and are distinguishable from others in the same category, i.e. lone howls versus lost puppy howls. And while we're on the subject, why DO we call them lone howls? Everyone I know offers them in groups of two or more. Does anyone ever offer up just one howl when setting a stand?
AS far as "If (I) do your part" goes, it's easy to get bent out of shape over that when you shoot like you guys do. Me, on the other hand,... that's another story. When you shoot like me, your conversations are filled with phrases like "when I do my part", or "my gun shoots better than I do". Mainly because all my regular excuses for missing are getting threadbare and worn. Through these phrases, I can indirectly take responsibility for being a bad shot without going so far as to say, "I suck at shooting." (Leave it alone, Behle.) As I recently told Q in a phone conversation, "Team me with a crack shot and I'm deadly at killing coyotes." LOL [ January 01, 2008, 09:23 AM: Message edited by: Cdog911 ]
