Here is a shot of the Great Lenbo trying to negotiate for a little "Midnight company" I don't think Rich ever let go of that damned sheep from dusk to dawn.
I made half of this case into Atomic Buffalo Turds and only had 3 left when I went to clean up the next morning.

It was great meeting and hunting with you all. Thanks Leonard, Tim, Randy and everyone else who made it a most memorable weekend!
As I was getting ready to pull out of camp on Sunday, I noticed this bumper hitch accessory attached to someone's truck. I hope to hear the story that goes with it one of these days. It seems to remind me of a Chevy Chase movie.

I hope you all found it in good taste. Just enough sauce to give it flavor. The novices need to know where many of the "experts" (not a dirty word in my book) were hanging out this weekend past. You think I rubbed anyone's fur too far the wrong way???? Let me know what needs editing.
Something similar is going to be in this month's PCOC newsletter. Most of you guys are legends. I'm just a copycat.

None of it seemed inflammatory, to me? GG might squalk about the do rag photo, although relatively few people will "get it".
On one issue, I think we may need an overall event "coordinator" to make sure guys get paired up? In the past, it has been very informal, but I can see that we might benefit from tweeking the format a little.
Anybody have a comment on that subject?

I cant speak for anyone else of course, but I dont see that anything needs to be changed. I dont know what everyone elses expectations were, but I came to meet and BS with everyone. Of course I wanted to hunt, and did, but that was kind of a bonus. Im sure others may have seen it differently.
It seemed that everyone paired pretty well? If there were conflicts, I wasnt aware.
As for the PM thread, I wasnt aware we were in a contest of any sort, formal or informal. Thats the only thing I saw....

No, don't misunderstand me Andy.
I never saw anything but cordial relations, everybody got along great, and I know they all had a good time, especially in camp.
I'm just saying that if we can figure out a better way for shy people to hook up, half a day, all day, (whatever) then let's consider it.
If there is room for improvement, it's my fault and I need to look at ideas. This is our first open invite, so maybe we can make it better, next time?
I can tell you one thing, in all honestly. This was by far the best campout, from a personal perspective. I really enjoyed it. And, I can't thank everybody enough, for making the effort, just to be there.
It goes without saying that there were others that deserve special recognition.
Tim Behle served as camp cook, as far as I could see, didn't hunt a lick. We couldn't have done it without him.
Then, there was RagnCajn, Randy Reeves. Drove a long ways with a lot of gear and fed the whole bunch, most of us total strangers. I'm impressed.
Rich Higgins is a virtual National Treasure. He makes friends so effortlessly and he works hard, without a gun, to put as many animals in front of a guy as he possibly can. He's quite a guy.
I'll stop there, but there are others that should be, and deserve to be singled out for their contribution. Don't think it goes unnoticed and unappreciated. Man, I wonder if I shouldn't be paying these guys for providing me with such an enjoyable experience?
One thing for sure, everybody deserves credit and my gratitude for making the campout the success that it was.
Most everybody is looking forward to next year. Yippie!

Here's the story.
Last year Vic and Tim pulled the rankest coyote they could find off the deadpile and buried it in the sand under the tailgate of my Bronco because that is where Tyler and I sleep. We woke up several times through the night when a powerful wisp would waft through the back.
This year Steve Criner and I hunted together all day long on Saturday and became close friends, the kind that you can trust to watch your back in a crisis.
We picked up the coyote that Freddie dropped at the gate because it had no blood or visible holes in it.
That night after dinner , cigars, Tequila and about 6 beers, (my limit is two), with everyone sitting around the campfire telling good stories, Steve and I put a collar and leash on the coyote and started to sneak out into the desert to circle around to the truck which was parked about 20 yards from Vic and all the other guys.
We decided real quick that sneaking through the cactus in the dark wasn't a good idea.
Steve went back and borrowed some night vision from someone, which ,in my inebriated state, I thought was extremely clever. We continued our stealth mission toward the truck but got sidetracked by the extremely cool nightvision. We watched three planes flying in tandem, we looked at all the surrounding landscape and speculated as to what generation the binoculars were before we decided that carrying on a conversation so close to camp wasn't quite as stealthy as we should be.
We successfully stalked in to the back of the truck which was pointed at Vic and company only 20 yards away. We got down on our backs, and giggling like school girls, we scooted under the axel and I had Steve hand me the coyote, at which point Steve, my buddy, my partner, the guy who has my back says "If we get caught I'm gonna tell 'em it was your idea."
I, being more mature, wiser and experienced, replied,
"OK, I'm gonna tell 'em I didn't want any part of this. You made me do it."
Again we decided that having a conversation at this point was interferring with our stealth. We slipped the leash over the hitch and balanced the coyote on the axle, slipped out from under the truck and made our stealthy way back to the other side of camp, giggling about "Vacation" and a cop telling Vic that "The poor little guy tried to keep up for the first mile or so."
Some how most everyone in camp knew about it the next day.
Sunday afternoon Vic climbed into his truck and drove home. As we watched him drive off I said that we will find the coyote and leash on the gate when we leave.
Later, as we we were driving out on the 2 track, two trucks were stopped a little ways before the gate and the guys were pointing at the coyote hanging in a mesquite on the side of the trail. A note attatched said "TOUCHE, Rich" followed by a short note and signed by Vic.
I haven't heard anything from Tim about the "present" that we left for him. Hope you survived OK, Tim.

That's Joyce's car. I took it because when I hooked up the trailer to go to the camp out, the lights didn't work. It was just quicker for me to hook up to her car rather than crawl under the truck and fix them.
By the time I pulled away from camp, I was too tired to notice much of anything.
She was going to drive that car to the store today, she may be calling you tonight ![[Eek!]](eek.gif)

If you're really looking for suggestions, here's mine for better and worse.
You're right about matching folks up if they come to hunt. A bulletin board or white board w/markers might be useful.
Mark off a campsite with a decent entrance. Getting in and out of that site was a bitch, especially after everyone started camping in the only "driveway." There were other sites to the right of the road with better access and a lot fewer obstacles.
Bring a garbage can or two and plenty of bags. Everyone take two full bags with them on the way out. Don't burn the plastics.
Someone needed, or still needs, to write up the campout for your board from an overall perspective. It was more than a camp fire, beer, and food, but you can't tell it from these pictures. Hard to do now, but it'd be easy if every group submitted a short hunt report form at the end of each day.
Not to mess up all the fun with dead animals, but unless you're adamant about a pile photo on Sunday, leave 'em lay. Make a photo of every kill the preferred alternative and download the photos on-site to a Mac laptop for the write up. Don't bring them stinky dawgs back to camp.
