Did all the skulls stay there? If not, what would a Colorado flavored Mexican Taliban have to do to get his hands on one????

Good work, Quinton! Nice pic.
I don't know if I asked you before, or not? Are you surprised when you pick up a jackal? To me, they seem heavier than a coyote, of the same size. To put it a different way, it's like they have been eating rocks.
Yeah, we need more pics. Did you use any indigionous sounds? Where's the caracal? Any leopard stories? Did you use more than 5.5 pounds of ammo?

Loco I have a few skulls coming over but it will be 6 months. I’ll be sure to save you one. Never thought about the weight thing Leonard. They do seem to weigh a lot for there size if that makes any sense. Jackal have hair and not fur so that’s probably the reason.
All the jackal that were called were used with Heins recordings of African species including a lot of vocalizations. Byron South and I hooked him up with Foxpro so we tested there call with Heins sounds. It was a dry run for caracal all I have to show is a little fur a little blood and a peace of what I presume to be leg bone. In other words he got away. We spent 4 nights hunting Hyena and called them in every night but the bush was to thick to see them. MAN are those thins loud!! It made my teeth rattle when they would howl. I am a little disappointed that I didn’t get one but that’s the way it goes. It will give me a good excuse to go back next year. LOL
We saw some leopard tracks but nothing came in. A couple of weeks before I got there Heins partner got one on an ADC job though. I think it was 7ft and about 160lbs. It was a nice cat.
The new regs are no more than 200 rounds of rifle ammo can be taken. I brought 200 and came home with six.
We covered a lot of ground and put 3000 miles on the pickup. LOL It was a great experience and I am already looking forward to my next trip.
I wrote up a story about the jackal in the pic and entered it in a story contest on the Night hunting forum on PM. It is a bit on the long side but if you get time take a look at it.
Here is a pic of my 48, 49, 50 and 51st jackal I have killed. Oh, and an African wild cat. My long shot on the jackal was a lazered 320 yard head shot and I shot the cat in the head right at 300 yards. Actualy the cat was a case of mistaken identity. I just smaked the female and was looking for the male when we spotted the cats eyes. We knew it was a predator and figured it was a jackal so I let fly and shot the cat instead.

Q, great picture, welcome home. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip.
Hopefully you have several basements lined up and it isn't too warm there in NE yet.

Actually those cactus did originate from Arizona. I can’t tell you when but the South Africans imported them to grow for livestock feed. Some farmers will still feed it but I think most don’t bother with it any more. It aparintly was just a fad that blew over. Good catch though.

It's not just the prickly pear.
In traveling around, from Transvelt to bushvelt, I kept telling Lochi how much it reminded me of Arizona.
When he came over for the Globe hunt, he agreed. Even the Acacia trees look like mesquite.
