In Arizona, 10-12 years maybe more. In the Ozarks, about 2 years old. [Smile]

Randy, seriously I would also like to know. With that kind of wear and loss there is nothing to it but a WAG. If you will remove one of those lower canines and send it to me I can tell you exactly how old it is.

It appears as though that coyote broke some teeth off while chewing on a steel trap or something. The wear on those broken teeth shows me that the coyote continued to chew with those broken teeth. High pain tolerance, that is for certain. Send a tooth to Higgy so he can age it. I am guessing 3-5 years of age.

My guess is that coyote is old, but in human years, he's still not as old as Cronk or Higgins!

Compare the lines on that coyote's teeth with those of our Uncle Jay Nistetter. That should give you a better idea. After that, we can place a new photo of Jay N. along side your coyote and compare the degree of ugly.

Damn, Randy, you and Mike caught one of the very first two coyotes ever. Probably still has elephant shit under his toenails from riding in the Ark.

At first, I thought it was one of those hyped up hillbilly 'possums on crack or somethin'.

Rich,

The extraction is in progress. If successful, I will email you for an address.

Thanks

Only at the new Huntmasters. This is the kind of thing that makes ppl think we're pampass know it alls. Just because we see something, are curious, and become compelled to "know it all".
You won't find this kind of thing on any other board.

Randy, I'll do the head mount for you. Nothing I can't recreate with a new jaw set and a ballpeen hammer.

Cutty pipe chewing tobacco or five brothers and favored chewing on the left side...Looks like somebody got pissed and kicked him in the teeth.

Randy, do me a favor and send both lower canines. I use a heatless aluminum oxide disk at 34,000 RPM and sometimes it will crystalize and fragment the tooth. It would be nice to have a backup.
You Pampass Knowitalls are all ready aware that the upper right canine may be fractured and the tissue trauma is consistant with injury that may occur from the coyote biting the trap, however the lower canine and the carnasials are extremely worn but the shapes are normal for that amount of wear. The kicker is the dull gray color of the canines, which is caused by age and not trauma. If the coyote were a young 3-5 yearold the canines would be white.
