Ok, here is a task for anyone really dedicated. Spend a season calling coyotes where the coyotes that come to the call are rewarded with a dog treat or some other form of positive reinforcement. Try to establish that by this postive reward to coming to a call, you can get coyotes to respond more often.Hopefully to the point where coyotes come to every call stand. This would be the converse of call shyness or the educated coyote.PS After completion of this experiment, I will gladly come and call these coyotes. Thanks

6mm284 ,
Would YOUR farm be a good candidate for that little experiment? I could get the ball rolling yet this spring, and I promise not to shoot any coyotes unless they stand real still for me. [Smile]

Believe it or not, my partner and I once tried a version of that in advance of a big hunt contest.

There is this secret "facility" out in the desert, with a large coyote population. We drove the fenceline during the week before the hunt, dribbling fifty pound bags of dog food from the tailgate.

Good hunting. LB

Leonard what where the results of doing this?
Here at home we use road killed deer or 40 pound pigs for baiting. We come back and check the bait daily, once the coyotes start to feed on carcasses then we track them down and kill them..

Ring a dinner bell when you drop off the bait. Then after they associate the bell with the food you can leave the calls at home and ring the bell.

Steve, fer sure, good buddy.

The agricultural inspectors at the AZ border, Erenberg feed their local coyotes all the stuff they confiscate from travelers, and take a dim view of me shooting them....found that out accidently; gulp. Actually, it's a stupid thing to feed them, on a regular basis.

Good hunting. LB
