Second stand yesterday morning. I'm going to make a video of all the things that bust our stands. Mattie took the first clip, Tyler took the others.

Do those balloons actually screw things up? Everytime I have to go to Phoenix, I see a bunch of them.

I thought they'd be old news to the coyotes by now.

Tim, they are very noisy when they skim along at treetop level, the propane burners roaring, passengers laughing and yelling. When we stand up in camo with our guns it usually scares the crap out of them. It's actually pretty cool watching them follow the contour of the terrain, skimming along over the hills and down into the valleys and washes.

I wonder how many stands you could make in a ballon before you have to put down?

The coyote is a living, breathing allegory of Want. He is always hungry. He is always poor, out of luck and friendless. The meanest creatures despise him and even the flea would desert him for a velocipede.

I don't know if you are really busted or not. Early in the morning last fall when I was out calling I set up in some sage brush that bordered a large alfalfa pivot,I started into my first series of howls and rabbit distress calls when about 2 minutes later I had a crop dusting plane go over the hay pivot spraying it,it made three or four passes and I was pissed to say the least.I was just about ready to get up because I thought it was a lost cause. Then I spot two coyote coming in,I couldn't believe it.We ended up getting one of the two coyotes. So I don't know if you are always busted in those type of situations.GOOD HUNTING C.O

Yeah, that part is true enough. Sometimes it's a real minor thing that blows the stand and other times, seems like nothing discourages them.

I told this one one before but it is along the same lines.

My son and I had three dead coyotes scattered around, and I broke off the stand to police up the area. I was not more than one hundred yards off, dragging a coyote toward the truck, when a late arriving coyote trotted between me and the truck, never even looked my way. My son saw him, but couldn't get a shot off, first because of me, and then because of the dang truck. He got clean away, not a shot fired, and wasn't very spooked, either.

Another time, I was making a stand and a coyote was bouncing through the brush when a Cessna went by, overhead. I glanced up, and then back in the direction of the coyote. He had stopped, head straight up in the air, watching that plane. Needless to say, he didn't know what hit him.

Good hunting. LB

Just exactly where is the kill zone on one of them things. Do they travel far when wounded? [Smile]

All kidding aside, I bet it surprised you, I know they have really surprised me when I don't know they are around, but actually very close, and they open up that burner, scares the daylites out of a guy.
