A good dog in this line of work is priceless!!!
Took some pics of my Cur earning his keep today.
He engaged these two coyotes at about 225 yards in this pic and is bringing them to me.
Doesn't need to many commands no shock collar he's not perfect but he works good for me. Doesn't push to hard just hard enough. He'll be 4 in Nov.

Don't know about the sex, but my guess is the closer one dies first. Just because it's close and it and looks pissed.
Great pics and cool dog.

Ok, I'll bite, even though I may ridicule myself in the process.
I know absolutely nothing about ADC work.
My guess is that the female is in the lead and the male is lurking in the background ? and you will take out the male ?
I "cringed" as I typed that !

The close one isnt pissed. Its actually frozen in place by a new feature on the WT. Randy can take his time and roll the furthest one and then at the shot, the close one will thaw and he can kill it still at close range.
Its called the Freeze Bang.
Seriously Randy, Great pics and thanks for sharing. I love watchin a good dog work. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

Nice pics. You shot the timid coyote first. Hoped the fired up coyote worked the dog at range.

I go along with Cal, close one is the male and you shot the female first.
What I want to know is, what does your dog do to help between the first and second shot?
Good hunting. LB

Male in the lead and kill the bitch first!
Leonard, the dog will simply chase the male for a while, and allow the coyote to chase him too and hopefully bring him back into range. Doesnt always work that way all the time, but most of the time with a good dog.

Shoot the far one first, since the close one is the most aggressve and most likely the dog can work it back for the 2nd shot. My guess is female close, male far.

See my guess, above. However, normally, I shoot the closest animal because many times the one way out there does not have a good grasp of what just happened and can be persuaded to wait for his buddy. But, normally, that will not be this time of year when I do not hunt, and it will not be a depredation situation....hence, my official guess stands.
Randy, hello! Where are youse?

LB, I'm watchin, so far lots of good thinking and logic. Hate to stop the think tank!!!
Story was, Rancher went to move a bull on horse with a dog. The bulls are just to the left of the flowers in the first pic. THREE coyotes came out and put a chase on the dog and spooked the horse, about bucking him off. Barely able to spook the coyotes off the dog, bit him up good.
Pictures don't do justice as to the dog coyote interaction, they were behind me, over me, etc. They must have went back and forth 15-20 times. Only the one engaged the dog, it wolfed the other off at about a 100 yards, about where you see the dog in the first pic.
You just got a couple more clues.

I'll guess dog close because testes will make a guy be stupid and aggressive and such, bitch at a distance where she was stood back by the dog as he pursued. Shoot the bitch first to avoid taking a 200 yard running shot by the time you shoot, reload and get onto her after shooting the dog in close, then shoot the dog as a 100 yard runner straight away on that nice flat field. At least, that'd be the plan.

RR "Barely able to spook the coyotes off the dog, bit him up good."
What does this sentence mean? (My English Professor would have had a hayday with it!)
Who was barely able to spook whom, and who was bit by whom?
That is the most gawd-awful disgusting looking country I've ever laid eyes on!

No doubt in my mind I would pop the far one first regardless of sex... looks like a chip shot with perfect position.
The close one will stop anyway, "They always do!".
I'd say they are both males, with the closest one a younger male. The third coyote, not seen here might have been the bitch. Could go either way if it's a family group.
The close one wolfing off the far one is a challenge though. Hmnnn?

Cool pics anyway you look at it!
