Has anyone here ever hunted the area of West Texas from Pecos to El Paso?

I was about to drool on myself yesterday as I drove though there.

It just looks like coyote heaven!

Yeah, I've hunted west Texas. Looks good and holds a lot of animals. The problem is access. Very difficult for an out-of-stater, especially coming from California. [Frown]

Essentially, I have almost given up. But, it looks so good!

Good hunting. LB

Tim, We have hunted around Pecos alot and done very well. Thats were we do all of our guided hunts. 15 coyotes in 3 days is pretty easy to do. We took 7 coyotes and 11 fox from midnight to 6am our first time out there. Lots of coyotes and an occasional 38 pound bobcat. [Eek!] I love the west Texas lanscape, the coyote hunting aint bad either. [Big Grin]

Todd Todd Todd...buddy....you have to be careful with the ego's of these out of state'rs. You go around making comments like those and all you are doing is making them get depressed, cry in their beer, whip the dog and who knows what else.

Guys....don't believe him. He is young and tends towards exaggeration. We don't have that good of hunting in Texas fella's. You guys got it good where you are at....so you probably should stay there.

By the way Todd, we got 16 in one 24 hour period over by the Guthrie area a few years back. You should try that area. [Wink]

Last year in a secret honey hole somewhere in west Texas while filming for "Hunting the Night Shift," we called in 21 coyotes between 8PM and 3AM.

So, Gerald is right, there's not that many critters in Texas. Think I'll just stay here in the Predator Hunters Heaven we call Minnesota.... NOT!!

Hey Gerald, now that you mention it, that area is terrible for coyotes and I will no longer waste my time in such a poor area.

By the way I grew up outside of Waco in Mt. Calm. We used to do pretty well around there. Last time we went down was 2 years ago. We took 4 coyotes and a bobcat from noon to 6pm. Of course all there is to hunt are coyotes and pigs. Thats okay by me. We are planning a trip down there for this year. Hope the trend holds true.

Good hunting.

Gerald,

Me and a buddy of mine killed 19 coyotes and a bobcat in about that time period a few years back. Not far from Guthrie. Since then though mange parvo and many other ailments have demolished the coyote population. Hardly even hear one howl out there anymore [Wink] . I hear California is the place we ought to be. Arizona ain't bad either. Texas sure ain't like it used to be. [Wink] .

Todd,

You should be ashamed of yourself [Roll Eyes] .

Don't ya'll know the further East you go the lower the numbers get. Sure ain't many coyotes hear in the East.

Byron

Q,

Of the 21 called in, I got them all....on film...

I wasn't shooting, I was the camera man. Our shooter, who will remain nameless, didn't do very well at all.

And, no, my camera isn't a .17 caliber camera....

Leonard, you just can't help yourself, can ya??? [Big Grin]

Todd the first feedback I got on the introduction of our CT 161 Coyote Locater cassette came in from the MT Calm area. The guy called me and related a story about how two coyotes were racing toward him in the spot light biting at each other. I published that tape to spur vocal responses but have since found that several customers have had dogs come in to it.

When you come over this way give me a holler and maybe " lets do lunch" as they say on the left coast. [Big Grin]

Gerald, you sound more Hollywood all the time; maybe you should have your people contact Todd's people? [Smile]

Buker, I didn't start it. You can rag on 30'06s or 223s or ANYTHING else, and they don't crap their pants; but let slip a negative comment about seventeen calibers and the owners get a bad dose of PMS.

Good hunting. LB

Hey Gerald, I probably know the guy your talking about. Mt. Calm just aint that big. 200 people or so. Heck he might be related to me! I am down there several times a year to visit my folks(oops take a drink). It would be nice to get together and "do lunch". I will give you a shout next time we are in the area.

Leonard, I have not been drinking prune juice...but I have been taking a product called Clean Start. Can you guess what it is....yep that's right. It is a colon cleanser. A mixture of herbs that remove toxins that build up in your system that can take a toll on how your body functions.

You just won't believe the work of arts I have been pinching off. Man they float and curve and are .........well you are probably not interested in that stuff. I will tell you all about in November.....I can't wait. [Big Grin]

Man....there I go again stealing your thread Tim. I am sorry but Leonard started it by....oh well...I better just shut up. [Roll Eyes]
