Reading Jeremy's post about the dead coyotes brought up an old memory. I have been perplexed by this for a long time and have no idea what happened. Quite a few years ago, My dad was on a deer stand and I was attempting to drive a deer over him. I was getting near where I knew he was when I hear him fire, a couple seconds later I hear him fire again. I chuckled because it usually only take him one shot. I turn his direction to help him get the deer out. Within a minute after the shots I see a doe running for all she is worth. I let her pass and behind her is a coyote, has his nose to her scent and is not letting up. I hit it with a 25-06 and down he goes. I get to my dad and he has two coyotes piled up about 5 yards apart. There was 5 chasing the doe when she came by him. He got two, two turned back and the last one continued the chase. I ended the chase. Here is the confusing part. We drag those two away from his stand out in an opening. Two week later I pass that way again. One is decomposed as much as a 2 week gone coyote should be. The other one looks as good as the day we left it there. Even the rains we had experienced had not even matted the fur. No swelling and nothing had eaten either coyote. I went back to find the one I had gotten and it was decomposing as normal. Can this be explained?

No NASA, there is not even a dwelling within a 10 mile radius of there. Southern Arkansas. One lane dirt road going to it and not even a power line in the area. Does have two artesian wells on the property that flow year long.
