I have an unconfirmed report from a reliable source that an 80 pound coyote was killed yesterday during the Nationals at Rawlins. If so that is unheard of here. I'm trying to find out for sure if this is true. I'll let you know as soon as I do. I'm not sure if it's possible, but they do weigh them for the "big dog" contest so this would be an actual weight, not just someone saying "yep, we kilt an 80 pounder!".

Do you think that they will x-ray him?
That coyote must have found one hell of a dead pile.

Remember that report several years ago of the guy that shot the wolf thinking it was a large coyote, then got in all kinds of deep yogurt for it? Did that every prove to be a true accountinmg? Are there any wolves in the Rawlins vicinity? Maybe one of those eastern coyote wolf X coyote crosses they keep talking about.

No 80 lb coyote, I found out. Someone misunderstood something, or a bad cell connection, or a crack pipe, or something. But I have another unsubstantiated report that the winners were Cenny Burnell (my old partner) and Rock Buckingham, another friend of mine. I hope thats the case!

Cal, I'm sure you know by now, but Cenny and Rock won the Rawlins Contest. They had 12 and I can't remember 2nd, but third was Barnes and Barnes with 9 and Tom Schmit and his nephew were a close 4th with 9, checking in later. Big dog was 37.? I think and little was 12.? with another checking in a 13.?. Didn't have much luck myself, called some awesome spots and got a double with the bolt gun, so I was happy.

Yep, I was pretty tickled for them JB, and maybe just a touch jealous.
I was hoping you guys weren't heading where your partner said you were, I figured that area had been worked over a little. But I'm glad you did get some stuff killed. You guys would do well there with the right territory.
