Danny...

I know R A has a call in his lineup called the "hotdog"? Im sure it has a counterpart....most likely something along the line of the "coyote camel toe"? to elicit those furtive yet sensual estrus chirps?

Danny,

I'll throw you some rope, brother.

You got a straight answer once already. [Wink]

Lohman makes (and markets) a call named "The She Howler", it was prototyped by Ronnie Robison (aka Varmint Hunter).
You can buy one of the production calls from allpredatorcalls.com and it will come with an instructional video.

The call is an open reed call, with a short quick radius toneboard, and a fairly stiff reed.

I can't explain what the sound is, I've never heard it.

onecoyote, Im not sure of the sound and neither does RA, as he speculates in the Mastering The Arts video, but they show a male chasing a female and she is making some kind of chirp, she has her tail between her legs and running around as the male tries to what appears mount her, so I dont really know how receptive she is, but RA points out she may be a bit intimdated buy his size. Im ony guessing that it is an "estrus chirp" she maybe by insinct trying to get the male worked up, as Rich has pointed out incidentally. RA demonstrates this chirp on the HD mouthpiece, it isnt hard to reproduce Ive done it many times, but I dont know if it takes a certain pitch to provoke the male. I been using it since the beginning of Febuary but no luck yet. I would add that I may have to get closer to coyotes that are breeding in their territories to atleast get them to break away from such an activity. Dont know how much they honor their bond, if you catch my drift. I suppose dogs being dogs you might elicit a responce by mere jealousy, or curiosity. Now here is something I stumbled onto, I was doing those chirps, then waited awhile then blew simultaneously on the RD and HD mouthpieces on the tip waverinng and dying off and just kept repeating that sound, now if you ever wittnessed dogs stuck together ie "dognotted" this might be what I possibly imitated. I dont know, but last week I dropped one as she came over the ridge not long after doing this sound.

Danny, I just reviewed these six pages and I'll be darned if I can see where you have been attacked, or called names or laughed at?

I will admit that some people appear to scan much of the content, forget who wrote it and respond without properly addressing a specific individual. We used to call it "comprehension" back in the old days?

So, maybe there is some of that going on; but don't let these young whipper snappers run you off, Gabby. We need more than one grizzled veteran.....the other being Higgins, of course. [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

I think I found it... it was my mistake.

quote:
Danny made a brief mention that someone "took" that idea and is trying to make money off of it. I just hope I wasn't involved, by being ripped off too.

Don't feel bad Rich, Danny told me to kiss his ass, and it didn't feel good at all. You're not missing out on anything.

Then I offered to let Rich kiss my ass, which Danny might have mistakely thought I was offering him.

THIS IS A TYPO: I meant to say Ronnie, and somehow I typed Danny.

It was so easy to miss, that not only did I miss it in my spell check/re-read, but some of you other guys missed it too.

My most sincere apologies. My bad. [Frown]

P.S. Ronnie, I have called a few times (and left two messages) but can't get through, please call me collect.

You can get the She Howler from All predator Calls. I made the reed short and thick so you can pop the chirps from the diaphragm. I use a lone howl and the four to five chirps with no break, Then repeat about ever minute. You should sound like a forty pound bird making four to five loud chirps in succession, no breaks or pauses.
