I suppose there has been a miss or two in this fashion of shooting by some folks here. I've never even attempted one. OOOps not true, I just thought of one. I missed though.

Have anyone of you guys ever done it successfully?

Are you serious? Or what is an "off Hand" shot to you? From what I know as the Off hand position, I and I am sure many members of this board have made 100's. I have no idea how many rabbits, deer, yotes, grouse, Elk, bears ,,,,,,, have fallen to my offhand shots. and there are many many better hunters and shots than I.

Yah for sure, clarify "off-hand". Either way though, that's just about all I've shot game with. I did just get a harris bi-pod though, so that number will change a bit.

Ooops. Sorry, I just may have the term basakwards in my locobrain. I was talking about standing and shooting at coyotes imparticualr. I too have killed deer and elk by standing and swinging the rifle like a shot gun. I do try however, to always drop to my butt before making a shot. For coyotes, it seems, I am almost always shooting from my butt and with a Harris.

I would think all hell could break loosee tryijngg to shoot coyotes from the standing possition. That's what I was refering too. [Wink]

I often stand up when things have already turned into a train wreck and I'm shooting at a running (fleeing) coyote. Simply because I shoot better at running targets while standing than sitting. Some of these shots really aren't that hard. Just depends on the distance, the angle and whether the coyote is plainly visible or just showing in flashes through the brush. A plainly visible coyote, at a reasonable angle, and within about a hundred yards isn't a slam-dunk, but it's a pretty high percentage shot. A coyote only showing in flashes through the brush, at any angle or any distance is a low-low percentage situation for me, usually don't even take that shot, as I never get the sight picture I want.

Yeah, and don't forget; your visibility improves substantially, when you are standing. That makes for a trade off, versus sitting, with a steadier rest. Sometimes, it's the only shot you're going to get.

On the other hand, I frequently make stands while standing, backed into a mesquite, just to take advantage of the better visibility. When I see the coyote, if I get the chance, I will definitely revert to a kneeling position, if it looks feasable.

Only off-hand shot I ever took and made was at a coyote 50 yards away. Put the scope on fur and pulled the trigger on my .338.

I love running shots. Killed tons of yotes on the run.
The nastiest runing shot I ever took was on a 200lb pig here on the coast.2 pigs together, I dropped one and the other took off going straight away from me. I made a good heart shot on her with my .300 mag,straight up the poop chute! When I cut her open it was a super duper mess.Instant charizzo.Still cant eat charizzo and eggs to this day [Frown]

I shoot off the sticks. I think last year while calling of the off-hand shots I took all of them were lefty due to the fact that it would have been impossible to make the shot off the sticks with the rifle shouldered on my right .I made 3 shots like that last year. Be it lucky or good ,I'll take lucky any day. [Big Grin]

I guess I would consider thatreally off hand shooting.
