Could it be? Joe Arpaio mentioned he thought he could win the presidency on Cavuto today.
What to you AZ boys think about him? He was talking about being the only sheriff enforcing putting illegals in jail, because, get ready for this, they are ILLEGAL. Seems no one ever thought of that.
I dont know his political affiliation, but I do like his simple, common sense hard nosed views. What do you local guys think and whats some of his other views? Could we get lucky enough that he would be conservative and pro 2nd ammendment? Or am I still wishing?
Edit: It was kinda funny, Cavuto asked him if he was interested in running for governor. He said that would be a demotion and that he could arrest the governor. LOL I like it. [ November 07, 2006, 02:18 PM: Message edited by: Andy L ]

I wish he would arrest the governor, she needs it. We could do worse than Arpaio, like klinton. He won't run for either.

I've never met the man, but if even half of the things that I've heard about him are true; he's welcome to sit at my campfire anytime.
It sure would be fun hearing the liberals squeal like girls if he did run.

I've really like what he's done with his inmates.
Pink Panties, tent cities, no porn, TV or Tobacco, and let's not forget the Chain gangs!
Jail isn't supposed to be easy.
But in this election, he climbed into bed with the Out of State Animal rights groups. The same groups who took away my right to trap in over 70% of the State.
I can't forgive him for that.

He spoke out in support of Prop 204 which was our anti farming initiative this year
And according to HSUS The initiative was passed.
This law will effectively make 4H kids criminals because the show pens are too small. [ November 08, 2006, 05:17 AM: Message edited by: Tim Behle ]

Andy The place where I work is about 5 blocks from Tent City. And yet it is still one of the highest crime neighborhoods in PHX. I carry there.
Arpaio is a publicity man first, and a policeman second.
He banned his officers from pursuing suspect if the speed exceeded something like 40mph.
Which is what I call the car theif full-employment rule.
There also have been several occasions where people have died in custody. One was tasered to death, another was suspected of lying about being insulin dependent, and denied it. She died. Both cases soaked Maricopa Co.'s insurance policy in the resulting judgements. Which affects my tax dollars.
