I think Harry Reid eloquently described the difference between President Obama and Jessie Jackson. There are so many other reasons he should lose his position, I don’t think this is one of them.

Of all the things the talking heads can feast on in the media, this one has me scratching my head. Reid is absolutely correct, and not insenitive at all to my mind. Obama is light skinned, and he doesn't usually use ebonics in his day to day speech, unless he finds himself surrounded by more than half a dozen negros, then he can't hep himseef.
It's basically a true statement by Reid.....why all the hoopla?

Michael Steele is using it exactly the same way a Democrat would use it. Dishonestly. But, that's the nature of politics, at this level, so I say, make the asshole squirm, the only rule s there are no rules!

Good hunting. LB

The Repubs are trying to compare this to something Trent Lott said. Because I don't have a clue what Lott said, I goggled it and came up with this:

After seeing this, I had to google Strom Thurmond to see why Lott's statement was racists. I found my answer in wikipedia.

Harry Reid is an Ahole of the worst kind. But I agree with all of you guys.

What's the big deal.

There has to come a time when people realize that they are offended because they choose to be.

It wouldn’t have mattered what Mr. Lott said that day. He was there to honor a college and anything he said positive about him would have drawn the same outcry.

Maybe the President will someday give Bill Ayers eulogy. I have heard that they are close.

Umm? Did you mean "colleague"?

Harry Reid is a weasel. How he got his job I will never know?

As far as the use of the word negro, when did that become the "N" word? Anybody ever heard of the N.A.A.C.P, or THE UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND? I guess a honky can be shot, unless he uses a politically correct word, but I can remember when it was the other way around and "black" was considered derogatory? The pundits have been saying that "negro" went out in 1964. Really? According to the Census? When are we going to be allowed to call a spade a spade? (no pun intended)

Is Obama black or white? Or, as they themselves refer to the mixed race, zebras. Or, as they also say, one drop of black blood and they couldn't possibly be white.

All of which is my way of saying that I didn't think what Reid said was such a grave offense, but if it puts him on the defensive, that's great.

How much more proving do we need before the electorate isn't considered prejudiced? He wasn't elected by that 10% black vote, although he got every one. It took a lot of white help.

Like somebody said, those that control the language, control the debate.

Good hunting. LB

Ummm yes! I guess if I had spent more time there I would have picked up on it. Thanks.

Watching him squirm hasn’t been all bad…I guess I have a double standard too.
