Ok you guys that know something about calls, tell me what I got. I bought a bunch of old calls and need to know if they are gems or turds. There's a bunch and I will keep adding, but here's the first few. The first is a Weems wildcall. With original box, and extra reeds. -

The next is an old Johnny Stewart with papers.
 -

Here are 9 original Bill Austins, 6 male and 3 female, with a pack of extra reeds.

 -

This one is a Burnham Brothers

 -

These two say "Zack Attack Predator calls"

I'll give you ten bucks for the blanket.

No, really. I never been much of a collector, but some of them look familiar. I bet when the dust clears, you probably bought them for less than what they are worth. At the very least, it looks like some good trade goods.

Good hunting. LB

I know nothing of collector value Leonard, but I figured someone on here does. The majority of these calls are circa 1970 or so I think. The Austins have a Buffalo Wyoming address on them, and I know for a fact that was a long time ago. The Johnny Stewart papers with the one call are advertising record players, so that too was a while back. There are a bunch more that I will post as I get pics downloaded of them.

I'll go $12 on the Blanket

I've never been much of a call collector either. But I hate getting cold.

I'm not sure if the blanket is worth $12 Tim. But I guess it don't get too cold down where you guys are. A friend and I were on a little coyote safari the last few days, down on the Red Desert, and the first night down there it froze. Had to knock the frost off of the inside of my tent at daylight. Thankfully I had more than a little red blanket. I had my regular bed roll all tarped and everything and I was warm as toast till I had to get up and get dressed.

Nice lloking colletion you got started there for sure.

Jay will be the one to ask about them. Im sure he will see this.

I collect some more custom calls than anything, but I will buy old calls when I can find them. Dont really matter to me if the are worth anything or not more of a hobbie than anything, and they look awsome in the den...lol

Jay has one of the best collections I have seen!

Yeah, where is the experts? HELLOOO?

That last one reminds me of something I have heard about? If that's what it is, don't put it in your mouth. Send it to Uncle *** for an evaluation.

Good hunting. LB

The last one is a Sure Shot and the one above looks to be half of a Lohman duck call. Not much collectible vaue on either one.

The Weems call is the newest of the weems calls with a vinyl decal rather than a water transfer decal. It is good that the instructions and box are with it. Value = under $20.

The JS bite call has no real value as far as collectors go but are great for calling predators. I'd definitely use this call in the field.

The Austin calls possibly worth around $10 each except for the one with a readable sticker. $20 to $25 on that one.

The BB call is fairly worthless for a collector.

The Zack calls I have absolutely no information on so cannot speculate on worth.

I's sell the blanket to Tim but make sure he pays shipping and don't take checks.

As always, assigning a price to a call is only good if there is a buyer and if it is a call that would finish a series or set.

I would use the Austin calls for trading stock to build on. The Weems is a good start but fair warning that older Weems could cost you a wife.

I'm sure this may not be what you want to hear, but it is like collecting anything. Starting out, you may stumble onto a really good deal, but don't bank on it.

I typically need to refer to my book from time to time just so I can remember the name of the calls I see and also use a compiled list of calls with descriptions where I rank their collectibility on a scale of 1-10.

To date, the most valuable calls will have labels intact with instructions and box included.

Calls to look for are Magnum, Circe, Cub Creek, Jaroski, Pied Piper, Weems, Higley, Rhino, Bishop, Cree, ForestRider, Huntmate, Puma, Thomas, Boynton, Leon's and Bishop

Thomas....
Like this one? It says Thomas #138 coon-predator

 -

This one has an unidentifiable sticker, but a JS I assume...

 -

No markings...

 -

Olt deer call....

 -

Again, no markings.....

 -

Olt coon call...

 -

And there are a few more that look like prototypes and various junk. I'll post more later.

Let's see....

The wooden Thomas calls are collectible. The plastic ones are worth $10 or $12.

The next one is a JS. Not much valeu there except it is great for your call box.

The third one, I do not know what it is.

The fourth one is an Olt 33 or 22. Not made anymore but quite common. The old Old 22 and 33 are worth big bucks.

The 5th one is a Lohman Howler.

Followed by a BBro Coon Caller. This style is neat to collect because of the different colors for deer, coon, fox. Colors can be blue tan, marbled tan/brown, clear and black.

Clean 'em all and line them up on a shelf and they will make a good looking display.

"Calls to look for are Magnum, Circe, Cub Creek, Jaroski, Pied Piper, Weems, Higley, Rhino, Bishop, Cree, ForestRider, Huntmate, Puma, Thomas, Boynton, Leon's and Bishop"

[Big Grin] I'm particularly looking for the open reed Rhino myself. Would that complete my Rhino Collection [Confused]

Sorry Cal us less experienced collectors were waiting to see what Uncle Jay said. [Wink] I'm just kidding Jay gets most the credit for what I know about calls. He has allowed me to pester him for years.

But he is 110% correct if you have a $20 call in good shape and someone needs it to fill a hole it can bring a nice reward.

Right now I'm geared more on custom calls with an old one thrown every once in a while to keep the taste fresh.

Be safe,
Todd
