Here's a look at a Hard Maple enclosed reed that I finished up today. Thanks for looking! HuntnCarve Dave

That's unique, never seen anything like it. How long does it take to do that? Is maple particularly good because of it's hardness+color?
If it's for sale, go ahead and list the price, if you want?
Good hunting. LB

Thank you Leonard. I've been making and carving calls for a while now. And I've found that Hard Maple because of it's density, makes a real good sounding call. And it's perfect for my carvings, and subsequent painting. It takes detail real nice. As for being unique? I just sort of like trying to make a call that stands out from the pack. LOL!

Sorry, you asked about the time it takes to make a call like the one I posted? I usually have a couple hours wrapped up in the carving, and a couple more in the painting. Not to mention about an hour in turning and finishing the call itself. I've made some in the past that tooks a good weeks worth of effort. -Sometimes I get ambitious.

I don't limit myself to just Maple. LOL! I dabble with cow horn and antler too. I've done a lot of calls over the years. LOL! Don't want to bore you folks.

It depends on the size of the picture? Generally, I can take a photo and work it onto a call. But you have to remember, there's only so much room on a call.

Welcome to The New Huntmasters, JBinMontana. Glad to have you on board.
I don't know how long you were waiting for approval, but once I sent it, you jumped right in! Good deal, we need more folks from up that way.
Good hunting. LB [ December 25, 2009, 07:56 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]
