I had nothing better to do, this afternoon after the ham dinner, so my son and I took my new hybred Huntmaster M1/Big Country out and wanted to see just how much range the remote has. He had not seen it before and I wanted to know what he thought of it. He was duly impressed.
I paced off down the road every twenty-five feet, and attempted to turn the machine off and on, work the volume and change sounds.
I stopped at 525 paces (top of a hill) because it was inconceivable to me that I would ever operate the machine at half that distance. I paced it both directions, out and back to the truck, to double check.
Over this type of open ground, (historically) I average 103-110 steps per 100 yards. Then, I drove it, not having a rangefinder handy. Guessing, it was about 2.5 tenths of a mile on the odometer; I drove about 75 yards past the top of the hill before it clicked over to three tenths. I feel very confident in saying that the remote worked very well at 500+ yards .
No malfunctions, the volume was terrific and I am very pleased with the machine.
Good hunting. LB [ April 08, 2007, 11:25 PM: Message edited by: Leonard ]

Sounds good, Leonard. I am sending mine out today to have the remote range issue taken care of. I don't think I'll ever use 500 yards but if I can get it, I'll take it! Chris
