Yes he sent me a indestructible box call made from the wood they make axe handles out of and to my surprise inside the box call when i received it and opened the box there was a open reed predator call.
the turkey call I use a lot, but nothing like the open reed call everyone that into calling that get out with me always comments on the sound

Tom resurfaced on TxPP a few years back, when Todd asked who of us call makers had "gone extinct."
He was making calls at that time, you might try tracking him down over there (User no.244) even though it's been a few years since he's posted.
Todd may have Tom's contact info, otherwise, I haven't seen hide'ner'hair of him in years.
Tom is the first call maker, other than myself, that I ever saw put a double-stacked reed on a predator call.

Yes, what Krusty said. I aint seen him in a long while over there. I always credit Krusty with the stacked reed concept, and I do remember TomTalker doing the same as well. He also took great photos too. Mark

Yeah, ole Tom is still around. I have came across post from him on several other boards.
He was the original "TT" calls before someone else helped themselves to that tag.
I really like Toms calls and have several made from the ever famous "Stump"
I'll see if I can track him down for ya, and if ya ever want part with any of those calls let me know.

my 3 flagship calls in my collection are my dubble off set voice and my Tomtalker open reed and this one is a Arky Joe call. its his first hand made call that was sold to the public. I even have the copy of the post from the predator posse with me and him talking about me getting his first call to the public. my top call makers , and I have many custom calls but my favorites are Mr Krusty , Mr Tomtalker , TLM game calls, and Arky joe [ March 30, 2011, 09:36 PM: Message edited by: George Ackley ]

TPP is where I ran into all of those guys. That was the first forum I ever participated in. I don't get over there these days, but it was a very friendly environment.

The TXpP is the first board I signed on to. Lost my password and can't even remember what name I used. That and some Custom Call board that had a lot of snobby and uppity goose and duck call wanks on it. Krusty and THO battled on that board too

I saw a video recently where the tom was killed and the hens hopped in the air about three feet then came back and huddled around the tom for a short time before drifting away.
Do the hens miss having a tom around, or are they self sufficient? How long before another large tom takes over? My understanding is that the Jakes, or bachelor flocks are young birds? Where does the next big bird come from?

Leonard,
No, the hens don't really need a Tom around. In general they'll flock together, but not this time of year.
In the same way the hens jumped at the shot, and pretty much went right back to doing what they were... a Tom can be "replaced" just as fast. There are videos of another Tom kickin' the deceased ass, in a firearms assisted take-over.
Turkey hunting and predator calling are a lot alike, and very different, you really ought to give it a try.
