Is there a place where I can buy parts to make my own call?

I tried melting some irrigation pipe on one end and burnt myself pretty good. Then I drilled a hole in a wood plug and shoved in the pipe, but it didn't work worth spit.

You could try allpredatorcalls.com.

They have reed material' but you still have to make the rest of the call.

Jay Nistetter stocks most of what you will need. You may want to contact him, if you have a high tolerance for fugley.

Joe. I bought a do it yourself kit from Jay two years ago. I have followed the instruction to the letter. With any luck I should have it finished in six more months.

Good luck.

My girlfriend and I are stumped on fugley.
Does that mean I should not contact them or are you pulling my leg. If there is some place in Tucson to get stuff, I will be there next week.

I think Rich made up the word? In fact, I'm sure of it.

Making a hand call isn't especially difficult, if you have access to a wood lathe and/or a drill press, and a small piece of hard wood. Then, you need the reed; which you can get from Jay.

But, calls are real cheap. If you are heading to Tucson, I should think that any sporting goods store would have a distress call for about ten bucks? Might be plastic, but they work, too?

Good hunting. LB

PS Does Yollie know about your new girl friend?

edit: Ronnie, does Jay know WHO YOU ARE? & does the kit contain a sapling and a little manure?

Boy she sure didn't think that was funny.
Thanks.

Joe, my advice is: the same to everybody without a thick skin and/or a sense of humor. She should stay off the 'net, if she can't handle it. [Smile]

Good hunting. LB

Hey, is she cute? How about posting a pic?

InjunJoe, I didn't make the word up, it's simply a contraction. Maybe I should have said b'ugley. [Smile] Anyway I was talking about Jay, not his calls. They are among the most beautiful I have seen.
BTW, if you blow one of those calls and Yolanda runs into the room, don't bother posting a photo of her. [Smile]

It’s her computer. Stay off the net because of what you think is funny?
I ask a simple question and you turn it to this.
Will you stay off the net if you can’t take it? Seems a little hippocritical to me. Ha Ha
I’m joking with you Leonard. Does it go both ways here? I think I figured out you are the boss here and you make the rules.

I don’t think she would run into the room. She would run me out of the room.
Do you know Jay Nistdetter and how do I find him when I get to Tucson? I would rather have plastic parts.
I finally got it. I am a little slow sometimes. I know what f’uuugley is now. Thanks for explanning to me.

I forgot to tell that I did get a coyote. Actully I snuck up on them and blew on my call but no sound came out, so I just went ahead and shot one. I was still nervus. The inside of my caller was gone. I borrowed a 243 with a high power Tasgo scope. I really like it and am working a trade for it. I’ll soon be in business. Anyone want to buy a InjunJoe tshirt?

Joe, all I'm saying is that people take things too seriously, on the Internet. I made a little joke, that's all. And, there is no question that I CAN make the rules, when I need to, but this Board is far from a dictatorship. It is just that Yollie doesn't seem to like anything I say....which is her problem, not mine. Maybe she should just quit looking over your shoulder?

Jay, doesn't live anywhere need Tucson, you should try to reach him by mail or email. He's west of phoenix.

You have the option of buying a cheap call, (at any sporting goods store)and being done with it, or if you prefer the hobby project, buy a reed from somebody like Jay, and have a little more personal satisfaction in the outcome.

By the way, congratulations on the coyote.

Good hunting. LB

Leonard. I have shot lots of coyotes just because I happen on them. Doing it on purpose is different and gets the blood flowing though.

Joe, if you want a real feeling of satisfaction, leave the calls at home one morning and just use your own voice to call them in.

My throat gives out after 3-4 stands, but when you get one, it sure makes the pain fade fast!

Tim...are you refering to lip squeeking, voice howling, or distress sounds?? I've often wondered if a voice distress sound would work.

Lips squeaks and distress sounds. I never could howl with my voice.

Just what I need.....a new way to make a fool out of myself while hunting coyotes. Can't wait to try voice distress sounds.

I've called (lip squeaked) coyotes that I've spotted while still hunting and gotten responses out to about 200 yards on cool, calm mornings.

I talked to Jay Nistetter. He talks a lot. No offense Jay. He is making me a coyote call and giving me 60 dollars for my puma call. Can’t beat a deal like that.
He explained to me that Leonard is from California. That’s to bad. He also got me interested in making my own call. He has instructions on how and is sending some parts. If everything goes well I just might start making calls for my buddies.
