Is in the works at this time. My prototype was made from a cow buffalo horn, and I am in process of fine tuning the tone board right now. Once all flat spots and pitch breaks are tuned out of the tone board, this howler will be sent off for reproduction. This will be a seamless howler with mouthpiece carved directly into the horn. This howler will feature a reed system that allows quick reed change when needed. The Cronk name will be carved into side of the prototype with a dremel tool. The new howler will be 8" in length and large end of the horn will measure 2" in diameter. Just large enough to get the job done, yet small enough to easily carry around all day.

Rich,i believe you will do well, selling the molded howlers.I can tell by looking at the tone board, over at PM,thats going to be an easy call to blow, and a nice sounding howler.

Latert on,i will be coming out with a couple "molded" predator calls.I will stay away from the howlers market and leave that one to you. [Wink]

Melvin,
Let me know when your calls are ready will ya? Don't let ME stop you from making howlers though. The market has room for one of yours too.

J_hun,
Mine is a bit different than yours. Not saying it calls coyotes better, just a bit different. I will send you one when they are ready. [Smile]

Guys,
If you don't have one of Jerry's "Wiley one" howlers yet, your call box is one tool short.

Rich, I will be looking forward to getting one of your calls. [Wink]

Posted by Melvin (Member # 634) on March 19, 2007, 01:05 PM:

Rich, the first will be a bobcat call, unlike any other on the market. The proto type is made, just a few touching ups to do.In the hands of an experienced caller, you can easily do bobcat in heat meows, cats fighting, and many other distress sounds.Coyote pups howling is a cinch on this call.I can't show a picture because of possible patenting reasons. When this call comes out,it will be offered to my friends here at huntmasters at a special price.I'm in no hurry,so this call shouldn't be out,no earlier than the first of july.

Rich, would you email your address to me? I got something for you to try. It's nothing special,i know you never got one. [Smile]

smithers,
Yes, molded of space age plastics. I am very pleased with how much these things look, feel and sound like the original buffalo horn. At 45.00 delivered, I don't think the first 25 will last long. [Wink]

The Bandit,
Steve Borland? Gee Whiz! Wow, I thought you were dead but I guess you must have just been in Nebraska. [Big Grin] I will make sure to save a couple howlers for ya

Rich Cronk, read his sig. line! It's Todd! Don't you know, Todd surfs the Internet and Steve answers the phones?

Could I ask, being curious, what type of "space age" plastic is employed in this well executed call?

So, are you up and active, able to dust a few coyotes, should the need arise?

Good hunting. LB

Leonard,
He evidently isn't sure which brother he is either. Look at his signature. [Wink] I am being treated by an allergist now, and seem to be getting slowly better. I had all of those skin tests that you read about. Only thing they found me allergic to is dust mites and mold. I don't get very far from home yet, but I think maybe a few summer coyotes are in for some trouble.

Leonard,
If I told ya, I would have to kill ya. [Wink] To be honest, I don't know what the recipe is but boy they have come a long ways in the quality of plastics. I stuck a soft reed in one of the new howlers, just for giggles. You know those plastic index folders for file cabinets? For guys who wear dentures and need to blow with lips only, this would be the answer I think. All you need to do is bow the reed tip upward a little bit every now and then. I will probably cut a few of those soft reeds for guys who like em.

Rich,
My new calls came today. The big howler has a big howl, its a museum piece. The molded buffalo howler is a very very fine howler. Reminds me of our neolithic ancestors meets the space age. It sounds as good as all your other calls. Its a Cronk call I can carry on my lanyard. Damn fine job!! Getting the call was timely after having read your tutorial on building a Cronk call.
Thank you
Eric

The boards are 5" for scale

Hey Rich: That new howler looks like a real winner. You know I will "Need" one. I am anxious to hear it compared to my Cronk Buffalo Horn howler and my Cronk Cowhorn howler.
