here are some pic's of the new gear that i tried out this year.
The first pic is a Call lanyard, very versatile, i can add calls or take off the ones i don't want to use. I had one simular to this that had a better hook system but i gave it to Scott H. and have not gotten a replacement yet.. The second pic is the Triad tactical eagle shell holder with pouch. It well hold 5 cartridges and spare ammo or a cell phone or GPS, or calls and extra reeds,or anything else you can think of.. The only down side is the straps to attach it to stock, they should be a couple inches longer. TA, how do you like the "Rattler"? I've been eyeing one for next season. The aluminum call body and two double reed voices is interesting. Does it sound unique and can it get very loud (for windy days)?
And what are the names of the call lanyards, the one pictured and the better one? I've been looking at a similar concept by Avery, with a hook system to postion the arrangement of calls where they won't knock into each other, etc.

However, I can't imagine hanging all that around my neck. I'm not a lanyard man, I use pockets.
The ammo thing too. I sure don't want something like that on my rifle, I use pockets.
For those that do, you got some good looking ....stuff?

The lanyard is called the "Heavey hauler"and i don't remember the name of the other. The Rattler has a nice gravely sound to it, easey to use and you can really put the hurt to the rabbit with this call. For a closed reed call it also has good volume and i would think it would work anywhere.. The nice thing about this lanyard is you can add calls or take away or just use it for the remote. Its comfortable around the neck also..
Yes Leonard pockets are nice to use also, the down side is now which pocket did i put that call in. Or i take one or two calls out of my pocket and lay them next to me, and after the shooting i forget to pick them up..
This year when i had the bandit out the remote fell out of one of my pockets. I did'nt realize it till i was in the truck headed for my next stand... Oh shiiit.. I went back and after looking for 15-30 minutes i finally found it.
I like to have more than one rifle in the truck and for me its easier to keep the ammo with each rifle by useing a cartridge carrier, just grab the rifle i want to use and the ammo is already there...

The Bandit remote. Hanging it on a lanyard is a solution, I will grant you.
Big fear is laying it down beside you and forgetting it...the caller is useless without it. I like to keep it in a breast pocket with velcro closure, doesn't bang against other gear. I might tie it to a cord attached to the pocket somehow(?), it is very easy to put it down and forget about it.
That ammo thing reminds me of all I dislike about your average deer hunter. Can't help it. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

edit: hey, have you looked into 64/65 grain bullets for that Ackley, yet?
reedit: if you do, run the numbers and kill a few animals with them....you won't go back.

Thinking out loud. TA, you mentioned losing the remote. Wouldn't it be a great feature to have a button on the caller to find the remote if in cases like yours it was dropped. Just like on a cordless phone.

I have 50% of those calls. It is a nice looking lanyard and it looks comfortable as well. Multiple call lanyards are not my gig I like singles better for some reason.
Nice snakeskin on the rifle as well.

Leonard: i have'nt forgot about the 64 and 65 gr. bullets. I willbe getting some here in a Month when i place my order for powder and such.
Smithers: i used to use single lanyards, got tired of the tanggled mess i would get when i reached into my call bag. I have two hooks stuck to my rear window and i hang just two lanyards with multaple calls. I like to use more than one call and more than one rifle, hey thats just me..

I`m just curious since your a pocket guy, I use a lanyard for my howler even though I don`t really care much for them, too much clanking & rattling if not tucked under a coat. When I`ve carried a red desert in my pocket it seems that about once a year I end up back at home without the damn thing ![[Frown]](frown.gif)
I need a shorter howler I do. I just kinda like the Red desert...for some reason.

No, actually I dropped it in the wrong pants pocket slot, a couple years ago, not the front pocket of my camo, and it went down to the ankle, unbeknownst to me between my Levis and the camo pants. I backtracked three times, looking for where I dropped it, and finally found it. Good thing that the ties were pulled tight, or it might have dropped on the ground?
From that time forward, I have kept it on a loop around my neck, but I still put it in my upper pocket so it doesn't swing around and clank on anything. The main reason is because it is actually a little too bulky to put in any pocket but the front pants pocket, and is uncomfortable when I sit, not to mention that it is difficult to get out of the pocket while sitting on my stool. So, my lifelong aversion to lanyards takes a back seat to security, what can I say?
Oh, as long as I'm in a confessional mode, I was the member wondering....but, it was all in good humor, honest!

Yeah, me too, I`ve lost 3 in as many years so this year it went back on a lanyard, hell I gotta sell fur just to pay for all the lost howlers.
It`s not so bad if I have just the mouthpiece but I like to use the bell with it in open country & I think it must teeter over the edge of my coat pocket when I cross fences or something. I suppose I`ll try a shorter howler & see if I can stay attached to it for more than a year.
