To answer your questions:
Good deal - no idea. Worth it for the average hobbiest? - Not a chance.

What the hell!??
I'd always thought I'd like to have a bore scope, (assuming that is a pitch for a bore scope) but I don't have a clue what any of that means other than the price.
I'll wait and see what Jack or DAA has to say.
The average hobbyist??...

I don't worry about what the bore looks like. There are still only two types of guns, those that shoot good enough and those that don't. If I bought alot of used guns, I might entertain the idea, but I usually buy a used gun with the idea of re-barreling anyway. A guy that trades alot of guns (like Leonard and Tim) may have justification. I really don't have many. But the ones I do have are good ones. I have a swift that I got in 1982 as a graduation present. I would hate to venture what that barrel looks like, but it will still shoot well under an inch with several loads. It is about due for another tube though. To get it to shoot well I am seating the bullets as far out as possible while still being able to get them in the magazine.

That's just an "okay" deal. Nothing to get excited about.
I think very, very few hobbiests will get much meaningful use out of a borescope. But for those who can use them, there is nothing else will do.
I have easy access to two of them, can borrow either one any time. And have only limited use for one myself, so I've never bought my own.

Yes, that is not a great deal. I have seen them cheaper.
A borescope is one of those tools that, once you get one, you can't understand how you ever did without it. I have had one for about 15 years now and would not part with it for love or money.
It is also usefull for a lot more than firearms. I use mine to examine the inside of engines quite a bit.
