Bro & I recently bought two Olympic Arms .243 AR WSSM [upper's]for our AR-15 .223 lower's. We both are quite pleased about. Their long range groups & mechanical function.
While shooting prone, @ 500yrds in a 8mph quartering crosswind. We were both shooting 4-6" groups. On fist sized dirt clods on the snow. We were useing store bought Winchester 95gr Silver Ballistic Tips. [ December 21, 2005, 04:30 AM: Message edited by: 2dogs ]

So does it take special mags or AR-10 mags or maybe a single stack follower in a AR-15 mag?
What kind of configuration is the upper? Like a "varmint" with flat top and 24" long 1" bull barrel or something lighter like a 20" .75" barrel?
And finally, how do you like the new nikon mildot scope? Is it the one with the side focus AO? I looked through Chad's new silver nikon (4-14ao?) with the side focus ao on his stainless tikka 22-250 (nice rifle!). But it didn't have the mildot which would be very nice when target shooting at those long ranges.

Scruff,
It's a 24" Flat-top. Heavy barrel. Still getting use to this rifle & scope. I like them both so far. If I hold "rock steady" that 95gr hog, go's where I'm aiming, out to 500yrds.
I rechecked my scope @ the end of todays hunt. Shot a small dirt clod @ 500yrds. She done well, pilgrim . Charlene's packing bigger thump, I love her now --------------------------
Mag modifcation;
1. Grind down the "Follower", from staggered-stack. To single stack[for the big butted ammo ].
2. Dremmel, the mag-catch slot...[taller] by an 1/8". To drop the mag "lower" in the mag-well. For the bolt to [slide over] & catch the fatter ammo
Time for modification, per mag = 15 minutes ![[Smile]](smile.gif) [ December 21, 2005, 07:39 PM: Message edited by: 2dogs ]

That's a pretty simple mag mod. So how many single stacked wssm's fit in a 20 (or 30) round ar15 mag? 8 in a 20, or can you get a full 10 in a 20 rounder?

7 for a 20rd mag. 12 for a 30rd mag. I don't load them to capacity. Don't want a failure to feed, eh.

With only one [small]coyote to date. With the new "Charlene". I'm happy with this new rifle & scope, so far.
Although the 1st hit, would've killed this coyote[not perfect, mind you]. I put another rd in her quickly. Both rds, exited very close together,[rear ribs & Abdomen area].
Extreme [total]exit wound damage, noted.
