Given El Bee's vast wealth and South American diamond holdings, I think that it would be really nice if he would present everyone at the Camp-out this year with one of these pistols !!!!

leonard; for a lot less money, you can get a whole lot more gun by looking into a Springfield Armory TRP model over a Colt. Short of looking at a pistol done up by a custom shop, the SA TRP is a great value. I see them going "used" but in like new condition for around $1200-$1250. They are a much nicer piece than the Colt by a long shot.

Well, at least you answer a nagging question I have had for quite some time about Springfield Armory. I always considered them to be kinda rough copies of a Colt. But $1200 is not cheap.

I tried a Springfield Armory 1911 a few years back. It went back to Springfield for problems with the finish. It came back "refinished", but with the same issues with the finish. I paid to have it properly refinished and got rid of it.
I replaced it with a Colt 1911 XSE LWT Commander. In my experience, there is no comparison in the quality between the two 1911s. Colt is far superior to Springfield.

About a 100 years ago, John Moses Browning was getting a lot of things extremely right. The man had a mind that had to be the equal of Da Vinci's. A pity that this nation doesn't honor him like it should.

Agree with that.
And, what's wrong with a 100 year old design, anyway? We haven't reached the point where we are making crispy critters with laser beams, it's still metallic cartridges fired in essentially the same type of weapons. Big deal improvements, still pretty much looks and works the same as even before the 1911, which might have been the 1906? Something like that?
And, what's so much different between a Colt Peacemaker New Army 45 and a Freedom Arms 454 Casull? How old is that design? Okay, one is needlessly powerful, but either could shoot you dead.

You're right, I need another 1911, one that I can treat like a red headed step child, won't rust due to carrying in the Oklahoma heat, fire at least 500 rounds before any cleaning is required, be 100% reliable and accurate to boot like my M&P. I also prefer the 4" barrel model.
Any suggestions?

Actually, a buddy tried to tempt me with a SS Colt two days ago. But it was the short barrel alloy framed model that are kinda finicky but the bug is still there...

I have a small modest collection and only one safe.
I really would like to have a good 1911, I just don't know anything about them. I thought the STI Ranger I had was a good place to start but I was wrong. I need to start looking at Colt maybe?

I actually don't own but a few guns, not nearly as many as most but I like what I've got.
