Anyone have any experience with Charles Daley shotguns? I was "needing" a nice scattergun for predators and I can get a new CD, semi-auto 12, synthetic stock for under $300.

I have just glanced casually at them, but years ago, they made a real decent over/under shotgun. You can get a 870 or a Mossberg for around the same amount. Personal preference, I guess? I sure like my 835.

Good hunting. LB

But, I don't care for an auto, for this application, it can get tricky if you aren't careful. A pump is so much more handy, if you ask me? LB

I've never tried one, but I ran this search on Shotgun World

Looks like you will either get an underpriced diamond, or an over priced turd.

If you've won on any scratch tickets this week, I'd pass on the gun as you have probably used up your luck

I've never owned one, but on the other hand I've never heard anything bad about them either.

Before you buy though, you may want to make sure that you can get aftermarket goodies like extra full turkey chokes.

I've got a Charles Daly side by side 12 gauge. It's a spectacular gun. It's an older one made in Italy. I think they've been made in a couple of different countries since mine was made. I've killed exactly a jillion and a half dozen birds with it and I love it. I attemped a shot at a red fox once and murdered a couple bagillion bunnies with it too.

For coyotes I always use my one and only .243 sheep, deer, and coyote killer. If I was to use a 12 gauge for coyotes, I'd just use my generic Western Field Montgomery Ward pump-flavored Mossberg(I'm guessing its a Mossberg) with an adjustable choke and 3" shell capability.

In my case, even generic shotguns are capable of shooting straighter than the shooter can anyway. So I just like reliable!

But for what its worth, my C.D. is a diamond! [Smile]

Lance, I bought my buddies Charles Dailey 12ga pump when he went and bought the CD semi-auto. I have no complaints with what I use it for, which is for tight cover predator stands. My buddy used the auto for doves and really liked the gun. I have always been a Remington 870 fan and bought a 28 1100 sporting for doves. I don't have any regrets yet with the CD.

Its not a CD, but I have a Norinco 98, "riot" gun. I havent shot it alot. The fella I bought it from works for us and he has with no failures.

I bought it for work, when we raid a house. I HOPE it goes boom, and it has so far. Ive heard good things about some of these cheapy shotguns. This one looks identical to a 870Rem.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the feedback.

Tim,

When I get back from my trip, I'll follow up on your SW search. Thanks.

Andy,

We used to use riot guns when we chased them with pickups. Lay it between the window frame and the side view mirror and go like hell.

Thanks to all.
