Topic: Advice on scope for Coyote in the midwest

Was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for a good scope for calling Coyotes in the Midwest.
I have a Browning A-bolt micro hunter in .243
I hunt WI river Bottoms in Central WI. The brush is thick visiblity down to 20 yards at times, but if they come out on the edge running the shorline on the ice possibility of 200+yard shots. Gun will serve as one of several back up deer rifles, and loner for the nephew in a few years.
I was looking at:
Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40
Leupold VX-III 1.75-6x32
Leupold mark4 3.5-10x40 with mil-dot
Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x40 w/ Bonne and crockett rec
Zeis Conquest 3.5-10x44 w/ mil-dot
Aimpoint A2000 reddot with 2x magnication
Concerned about too much magnification in close quarters with the 3.5x10's?
Any advice, opions, comments or remarks would be appreciated.

Welcome to the New Huntmasters, Big Bird. Glad to have you on board.
As far as a good utilitarian scope, I wouldn't hesitate to get a 3.5X10X40. It may be difficult to line up a moving animal at twenty yards, but?
You need to learn to stop a moving animal for an aimed shot, if at all possible?
Question is: what will be the more useful, snap shooting at twenty yards, or accurate shooting at two hundred?
Lasers and aimpoints have a limitation in bright conditions, and beyond a certain range. I don't know very many that depend on these devices under general field conditions.

Are you thinking more shots will be 20 - 50 yds or 150 - 200 yds?
I know many people that use fix 6x scopes.
I use 3.5 x 10 x 40 and 50; mostly set on 4x; most shots are 20 - 75 yds; but if I have a 100yd or 150yd shots, I can crank it up...

Hey big bird I purchased a bushnell elite 3200 4x12x40 and am totaly impressed with making many head shots on jacks out to 300yards on a tikka 22-250.I have had few shots closer then 50 yards and at 4 power had no problem picking up my target and incredibly clear as well.Good luck.

Norm,
Most shots will be inside 75 yards, Ideally I should have a partner down wind about 50 yards with a shotgun but that isn't always possible.
I already have a Leupold 1.75-6X32 on a .300WSM,
I was thinking about putting that on the .243 and getting something else for the WSM
Everything I have read so far comes down to two schools of thought.
1) Don't need anything over 6X "practice" your calling and take the close shots.
2) Magnifcation doesn't matter, focus on your target and mount your gun and the target will appear in the field of view.
Expecting, more close shots I'm concerned about too much magnification.

Consider a fixed 4x, high quality glass. With barrel sights, mount on elevated see-throughs.
Great set-up for 20-50 yards. You'll be pleased.
