Well, just in from the shop and putting up a cat. Combing and prettying up the others. Dreams of grandure and paying for things like a house, a new truck, or even a new rifle are out the window. After the Nevada sale things are crashing hard and fast. Maybe I'll have them tanned and make my wife a coat, a bedspread, a vest, and even a hat. Alot of fuel, time, and energy down the drain. I heard a guy bitching about losing some in the stock market this week and I guess I know how he feels.

I heard that from Petska two weeks ago. At the time he was still paying $200 on the top end. I could call him for you if you would like. I was going to give you a call to see what you were going to do but I figured you were on a 3 day drunk and didn’t want to be bothered. LOL
How many did you end up with anyway?
Good hunting.

Cal & Q, , Do you guys have an idea whats the deal with these buers. Cats was the only real good seller, I did get good prices on my badger last year but I also got a fair price for a few cats. This year Bryan and his partner, took one for the team and I only took one to sell and it was a washed out XL, not very good definition. I remember when a light color or "washed" cat would bring 150-175. Not anymore, ain't even close.
I'm sure happy about the prospect of getting to hunt the big "Wolf" here in Idaho next year. You guys want to join me, should be fun as hell.

I was at my fur buyer last week and he said the coyoytes and fox, and coon will continue to do well. If you would like i could get some cat prices from him, he is one of the biggest fur buyers in the midwest and he gets alot of furs from out west also.... Good luck

Sold 5 last week averaged $52.00 each. The buyer said prices were going down but I thought he was just setting us up. Of course our best cats are your worst ones but I read in Fur, Fish and Game that some buyers have discovered our cheap southern furs... always something.

Rshaw and I sold 16 Texas cats and averaged 75 dollars from Tommy King. His prices are set for the season as what ever he gets is already sold. From what I here the high-end cats are really dropping in price but the lower end and lower elevation stuff from TX, OK, NM and others will remain stable.
As crazy as the cat prices have been for the last couple of years it was no surprise to me to see the bubble burst. What goes up must come down. European and worldwide economies play a role in fur prices as well as filled orders and fashion trends.
Our coyotes are ate up with mange and it figures. The best prices I have seen in many years and I couldn’t get motivated.
Good hunting.

Fur sale in Globe last month was a surprise. Cat prices didn't make expectations. Average for cats was $176.59 Big toms were still up, $350 to $400. Grey fox were up $33.20 average. Coyotes averaged $20. Nice ones went for $35.

Tom64, was that Okmulgee on mar. 3rd. I sold my hides there, and was disappointed with my cat prices. On the other hand, I was very pleased with how my coyotes sold. Maintain, Geordie

No Geordie, we sold to Maurice Gray in McAlester. Same price whether in the round, skinned or stretched and dried, I'm just lazy enough to like this guy. He is buying coyotes for $10.00 skinned or $13.00 stretched and dried.
Talked to another guy today and he and his partner sold 20 cats that averaged $57.00 but he didn't know who they sold to. [ March 09, 2007, 01:25 PM: Message edited by: TOM64 ]
