I had a guy out to hunt Wt deer Sunday. Got him in the stand before daylight and set up, headed off to hunt another stand. Around 8:30am he gets me on the radio and says he shot a huge buck! I got him clamed down and told him I was on my way.

When I got to were he was (about 45min) He was a mess! Kept going on about how big this deer was! So, I get him back in the stand and tell him to tell me were it was standing, he does and I start trying to fing his arrow. No go, cant find it! I start making small circles and found blood. It was dark red blood so I new it was not a lung hit, no froth in it either. And not alot of blood. So, we head back to the truck to give him some time. He must have smoked a pack of cigs while we waited!!!! I gave the deer 1 1/2 hrs and headed back in.

I picked up the blood trail right away and started tracking. We didnt go 50 yards and I spoted him bedded down, still alive! And man what a buck it was!!! 180 class deer easy! Maybe bigger! So, I got him set up for a stock on it to finish it off. He didnt go 10 yards and the deer stood up, he didnt have a shot! I could see the hole in the deer was to far forward and was infront of the lungs and over the heart. Not good!

We tracked that deer all day! Geting to with in 50-60 yards of it bedded down several times but the guy couldnt close the deal! We ended up about 6 miles from were he shot it and lost the blood! I was sick, but not as sick as he was! I hate to see a deer of that class shot and not found. So, Monday morning I got 5 guys and we headed back out, hoping he had bedded down and got stiff. We made circles trying to pick the bood up or find the deer all morning and gave up around 12:30am.

The guy was just about ready to cry I think. Thats a tough one to take for sure!
