Well, this guy has powder taped to his leg and a bottle of liquid. Winds up with severe burns on his hands.

I predict this will be a high school chemistry attempt, even though Homeland Security won't tell us what was used, I will venture an educated guess.

Potassium permanganate (KMno4) mixed with common glycerine will do exactly what is descrbed in news reports. Both are readily available from a number of sources, for a number of uses.

Maybe he intended to burn a hole in the fuselage, although I don't know if the heat is sufficient to melt aluminum at around 1400F. Especially if the outside skin is minus 50 or so? Maybe with pressurization of the airframe, the hot metal could possibly blow outwards?

I have wondered why, since they took away their boxcutters, they have not tried those ninja sharp plastic daggers? They don't XRay very well, and they are a formidable weapon in skilled hands.

Kinda dumb Muslim, but aren't they all?

Good hunting. LB

Recent

Passengers getting off both U.S. domestic flights and those arriving from overseas reported being told that they couldn't get out of their seat for the last hour of their flight. Air Canada also said that during the last hour passengers won't be allowed access to carry-on baggage or to have any items on their laps.

***********************************************

This is not going to go over very well. Everybody wants to take a trip to the john before seatbelt enforcement. They also want to get stuff out of their carry on and put stuff in their carry on. This is going to be like CON AIR, without leg shackles. Them fuking A rabs!

Good hunting. LB

A 168 grain boat tail hollowpoint at 2600 feet per second is good medicine for the terrorist vermin. Especially when applied to the upper or lower brainstem.

And to think I just got out of church...

Okay, back to posting retirement.

Heck, I can get 3050 MV quite easily. You really don't need to self imposed exile. Come out and play, we won't hurt you.

LB, I'll be out of exile for a spell.

I don't like having to divide my loyalties between here and there but apparently it is what it is.

"They" say the terrorist used something different, so I was speculating incorrectly. That is inconsequential though. The main thing is that these weenies keep granting visas to terrorists rather than risk political correctness by profiling these assholes. You know, under 35 arabic names, traveling alone without good reasons, prior visit to Yemen. They knew all this! They need to start by firing everybody involved, there needs to be an example. This "not my fault" smokescreen doesn't cut it any more. Make these people do their jobs and make them responsible when something happens.

You say, well they won't take the job if they will be held responsible. I say that's fine. Get somebody willing to do what's required, rather than just pulling a paycheck. Use a bounty system as incentive. We are not helpless, we need to screen these people effectively and quit wasting time pretending to do it.

Good hunting. LB

They should make the screening job a higher qualified, higher trained, and higher paid job. There is no other way around it.

U.S. Knew of Airline Terror Plot Before Christmas

(well, fire those people that ignored the threat!)

FOXNews.com

The U.S. government had intelligence from Yemen before Christmas that leaders of a branch of Al Qaeda there were talking about "a Nigerian" being prepared for a terrorist attack.

(extra screening? maybe that's profiling?)

The U.S. government had intelligence from Yemen before Christmas that leaders of a branch of Al Qaeda there were talking about "a Nigerian" being prepared for a terrorist attack, the New York Times reported Tuesday.

(we have all this secret monitoring equipment: what for?)

A senior official told the Times that President Obama was told in a private meeting Tuesday while vacationing in Hawaii that the government had a variety of information in its possession before the failed bombing on a Detroit-bound flight last week that would have been a clear warning sign had it been shared among intelligence agencies.

(another thing, why not share information? Radical concept?)

The newspaper said the information did not include the name of the Nigerian.

(oh? you need the name? These clowns are idiots!)

A CIA official prepared a report on Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab after a meeting with the suspect's father in November, who shared information about his son's extremist views, CNN reported Tuesday. The report was sent to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, but it sat there for five weeks and was not disseminated, a "reliable source" said.

(Fire whoever was responsible!)

"Had that information been shared... [he] might have been denied passage on the Northwest Airlines flight," the source reportedly said.

(MIGHT? These people are incompetent!)

A CIA spokesman confirmed the report Tuesday, saying: "We learned of Abdulmutallab in November, when his father came to the U.S. embassy in Nigeria and sought help in finding him. We did not have his name before then."

(Okay, now we even know his name!)

"This agency, like others in our government, is reviewing all data to which it had access, not just what we ourselves may have collected, to determine if more could have been done to stop Abdulmutallab."

(If more could have been done?)

The president acknowledged Tuesday that a "systemic failure" on multiple levels allowed Abdulmutallab to board the flight, amid growing evidence of missed warning signs.

(yes, failure. Fire the people that failed in their job, even worse, fire the higher up management that read all this stuff and it didn't register, they should never get another job in security)

The president, in his most extensive comments so far on what went wrong in the security process, said information about the terror suspect was not properly shared among agencies. He said that information, particularly a warning to authorities from the 23-year-old suspect's father in Nigeria, should have landed him on a no-fly list well before he boarded the Northwest Airlines flight in Amsterdam.

(obviously, Mr President. Now do something about it besides "reviewing" it.)

"The warning signs would have triggered red flags and the suspect would have never been allowed to board that plane for America," Obama said. "A systemic failure has occurred, and I consider that totally unacceptable."

(Great speech, Barry. You idiot! Don't forget to blame Bush!)

Senior U.S. officials told The Associated Press that intelligence authorities are now looking at conversations between the suspect in the failed attack and at least one Al Qaeda member. They did not say how these communications with the suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, took place -- by Internet, cell phone or another method.

(Conversations with Al Qaeda does not set off warning buzzers anymore?)

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters, said the conversations were vague or coded, but the intelligence community believes that, in hindsight, the communications may have been referring to the Detroit attack. One official said a link between the suspect's planning and Al Qaeda's goals was becoming more clear.

(dense, that's the only word to describe it! The CIA can't figure out code words! I'm going to throw up!)

Obama said a mix of "human and systemic failures" contributed to what could have been a "catastrophic breach of security."

(Hey folks, let's not get excited. At least we know they knew! If the plane HAD blown up, we wouldn't be hearing any of this stuff)

A senior administration official, speaking with reporters on condition of anonymity, said enough was known about the suspect to stop him, but the government didn't connect the dots.

(Repeat, fire those people who are EXPECTED to connect those dots! We need to shake things up!)

"It is now clear to us that there were bits and pieces of information that were in the possession of the U.S. government in advance of the Christmas Day attack -- the attempted Christmas Day attack -- that had they been assessed and correlated could have led to a much broader picture and allowed us to disrupt the attack," the official said.

(So, if there were hundreds planned and we didn't connect the dots, at least we probably learned a lesson. Well, did we?)

The suspect was not on the "no-fly" list or a separate list that would have required secondary screening at an airport.

(how many people were involved in collecting this data and who writes these "no fly lists"? Fire them!)

Obama said there were several "deficiencies" in the intelligence-gathering process, and that information about the suspect "could have and should have been pieced together."

(another obvious statement, Barry. Great speech, btw.)

"It's becoming clear that the system that's been in place for years now is not sufficiently up to date to take full advantage of the information we collect and the knowledge we have," Obama said.

(That's were Bush is responsible, right? Not all those Liberal Fairies that have been screaming about civil liberties)

The comments come as the administration launches a review of airport screening and the terror watch list system. The president said a preliminary review is due to him by Thursday.

(but, no hurry. It can wait until we solve GLOBAL WARMING and this health care for illegals bill)

"We need to learn from this episode and act quickly to fix the flaws in our system because our security is at stake and lives are at stake," he said.

(gret speech, Barry. Lives are at stake, but first things first, let's close Gitmo! These people are idiots!)

The first one fired should be Janet Napolitano. To say she is incompetent would be polite. She is more like a blithering idiot.

Well, for a couple days, full body scanners seemed to be the answer, but.... Check it out!

quote:
Isaac Yeffet, former head of Israel's El-Al airlines, said Muslims would not stand for any widespread use of the device since it would, to some, represent a dishonor to women and their families.

"Realize that a Muslim will know that his wife was seen naked in this machine," Yeffet said. "You know what would be the reaction? ... Terrible."

SIMPLE. EXEMPT MUSLIMS FROM THE SCANNERS. HOW'S THAT FOR A LIBERAL ACLU TYPE SOLUTION?

You can't make this stuff up.

Better yet, just exclude Muslims from flying on passenger aircraft!

Seems the CIA just lost 7 operatives to a suicide bomber. They even invited him to their base and let him in without being searched... guess they thought he was one of the good muslims...

We really do need some new people in charge of these things.

I have posted my sincere belief more than once on various public forums, but most people think that I am completely nutso. Obama is a radical Muslim that was groomed by the nation of Islam, and his job is to destroy America from within. I would say once more that Osama Bin Laden is surely proud of the job his chosen one is doing.
