Just finished both of you're articles in Trapper & Predator Caller. Both did a great job. Lance I now feel I have been on a hunt with Q, Because of you're great description of Q's style of hunting.
Tim. You have me wonting to grab a Hog leg, And give it a try. I have shot a lot of Fox with a pistol, But never a Coyote.
Both of you have me ready to go as soon as the water goes down. We have had 22" of rain since the first of the year. Three more days of it on the way.
Lance. In the picture of Q. He appears to be using both a Harris bipod, And shooting sticks. Can you are Q explain that. I know he has a good reason. Just wondering what the advantages are.
Danny. I am sure you're video is great. Just haven't seen it.

Leonard, I think they spread it out over about two weeks. Since I am such a slow reader. I get mine early.

I haven’t got to read the article in its finished form yet either Leonard so don’t feel like the lone ranger. LOL Varmint Hunter, I only use shooting sticks when I have to. In the area that we were hunting I really had no choice because the brush was to high to lay prone in most areas. I am a terrible off hand shot so I need all the accuracy aids I can get. LOL I really need to learn to not be so dependant on sticks though.
On another note I hit a good lick this weekend and scored 10 for about a day and a half of hunting. It was a nice end to a good season. Other than a little odd ADC work I am done. The coyotes were not hitting on anything but vocalizations but that’s about what you can expect for this time of the year.

Ronnie, Thanks for the nice compliments. Actually, the description I made of how Q hunts is only partially right. You see, there's simply so much involved that it would take at least three entire issues to cover it all. A day in the field with Q is as much a "clinic" as it is a hunt. Lots of information there for the taking as long as you keep your eyes open and be objective. He'll certainly take a lot of what you thought you knew about calling coyotes and turn it inside out.
It's our hope that this article will prompt and invoke some dialogue about other aspects of how he hunts. If so, I'll be more than happy to go up there and hunt, er, I mean, do "field research" again. I've still got one or two story ideas brewing in the wake of our day together and only have to line up contributors and do an outline before the next installment goes out. Q, can you say WOO-WOOOOOOOO?!?!?
Again, although there are those that would allege that I only write those pieces for the quick buck, it's more a matter of conveying useful information from point A to points B-Z and hope that someone somewhere finds it useful. Thanks again to Quinton and Danny for the pics.
Tim, nice article. Tyler, good picture. Like seeing names I recognize on those by-lines.

Leonard, I'm gettin' a little antsy too. Haven't received mine yet and I've been waiting on both of those articles by friends of mine. Don't worry that Ronnie already has his and we don't. Ever since Ronnie appeared on the cover of T&PC's twenty-fifth anniversary issue they give him the preferred VIP treatment.

I enjoyed both articles very much.
Q's method sounds good to me and I know just the place to try it.
Tim - Nice picture of Robb, but wasn't the article about you hunting with a handgun? Or are we incognito for some unknown reason?

I just have a minute, but I have to add my two cents to what has already been said.
Lance, thanks for a good article.
Tim, also; very good article, well written.
Quinton, it's nice to see one of our own get a little ink. Good for you, you deserve it.
I bet JH is real happy to see his old amigo published in a National publication. They need to give photo credits, or did I miss it?
Good hunting. LB

Q, I've been reading your story on the LRH board, great job! I'd say you stand of good chance of winning!
MJM, I can write some. But I don't take many pictures. My digital camera can't get enough resolution to make photo's saleable ( I need a camera with 7.2 million megapixels for that, and have too many other things I'd rather spend the money on )
Leonard, JH had started to take the pictures for the story, then he dropped that turd on my fan and the story sat on my hard drive until Rich Higgins was kind enough to volunteer his services and expertise.
I've dug my old 35 mm trapline camera out and have begun beating some of the dust off of it. I've a few more shots to finish off this roll of film, if I get anything decent out of it, I may have a couple of more stories to send in.
I still haven't seen a copy yet, mine should get here sometime next week. You'd think with the new part time help our local Post Office has hired, our mail wouldn't be so slow. But I guess that's what happens when they hire old retired Phone guys. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Don't feel bad, I never did see that article on misting that JH was so proud of.
So, Vic went right back to work, eh? Keeps him from vegetating, s'pose? Too damn busy to check in here, once in a while! Jack had to take over his duties.....

Wow, Leonard... all that feces in the fan and you didn't even see your name in lights? I presume you're s subscriber. If so, go to www.trapperpredatorcaller.com and click on "register". If I remember right, you'll be direcetd to the mailing label on your magazine where there is a number that is needed. Once you're in their system, you can go back and look at that issue online. Leonard,
If you are coming to the expo next weekend, I'll bring my copy of the article. I saw Vic in town yesterday, he claims he's keeping plenty busy, but he needs to get busy on here and post a picture of the Javalina Carlos' wife shot. Have you ever seen a white Javalina?

No, never did. That would be interesting. Never even heard of a white one?
But, I'm glad you reminded me of something! Last week, as soon as I rang the door bell at Rich's place, and was greeted by him and a whole pack of dogs......he ushered us in to the great room area and plugged in a video by Jay Nistetter.
In that video, I just about crapped my pants when they lifted the javalina shot with a 40S&W by Jay. (I think?)
This animal was, by far the biggest I have ever seen! They held up the readout on the electronic scale that showed a weight of 56 pounds! That's about ten pounds heavier than any javalina I have ever (personally) seen, or heard of?
Rich or Jay, (either or both) You guys need to provide a few details on that puppy! Like; where , for one thing?
He's already been kicked out of (and banned from) the Phoenix Zoo.
Good hunting. LB

How bout writin' it someplace we all can find it? LOL Without having to PAY for it.
If anyone has a copy of the article on misting, and/or the one on Q's hunting techniques, that they could pass along, I'd sure love to see em.
Thanks

Krusty,
Here's Q's Story
Leonard,
Mine went 53 pounds, and I thought that was about average for an adult. Maybe we just have bigger ones in AZ? I might have gotten a couple of pounds more out of him, but I went with an accuracy bullet ( 162 Amax ) Instead of something a little more flesh friendly.
Carlos says there is another one in the same area, that is only part white. Must be something in the local gene pool.

Out of curiosity as a taxidermist, was this big whitey an albino, or piebald? Sound like the partially white one you mentioned might be piebald.

I don't know the answer, but it seems to me that there is a related species called the "collared" pecary, but I think it's from South America, or Mexico, some place like that? The markings are an off white color. A long ways to migrate?
