Got up at 4am went calling with Mark Miller, a friend from the club. Filmed eight coyotes on two stands and got home by 8 am. 113 today so I put up misters for my horses in the shade by the water troughs. Horses stand on the other side of the house with their heads down and act like the abuse is my fault. These are the same horses that I've posted pics here getting into fistfights with my dogs on the backporch over the dogfood. Gotta be fifty degrees cooler in the mist in the shade. Horses are still standing in the sun POed at me.

Joyce opened up the back door to go outside this morning and the old black dog charged his way into the house past her. [Eek!]

He went straight to the cooler and laid down in front of it. He's refused to move or respond to anyone all day. If you pet him, he'll wag his tail, if you try to call him to go back outside, he goes deaf and ignores you. She couldn't even tempt him with a plate of tacos left over from lunch.

It's only 104 down here today, but I doubt that old fat dog moves before dark. [Wink]

Okay, okay, I'm racked with guilt. It only got to 94 in San Antonio today. In solidarity with my brothers from hotter climes, I've got a notion to turn on the oven.

Close to 80 here today which is really making the flooding bad. The whole county, which is twice the size of the state of Maryland, has been under a flood warning for some time. Lots of bridges and roads already washed out and high temps coupled with record snow packs only promise worse to come.

This is prime ground squirrel shooting time and I can't go for fear of getting stuck in the mud.

It's enough to make you move to the desert. Hmmm, I did that a while back. No guarantees anywhere, and it would just make life boring if there were.

I have (today) been installing a microwave over a stove top.....ductwork, vent, elec. outlet. In our recently purchased rental. Five miles from Palm Springs; all day in a very hot kitchen. I heard the temp in PS was 114º today.

So far my weekends have been installing Three water heaters, a dishwasher, a cook top, a range and oven, garage door, gates and fences and $2700 worth of tree removal and trimming. And, I have been getting back home around midnight. It's a fixer upper, for sure. Next, shingles.

Good hunting. LB

I like cold myself, gets a tad warm here from July-Aug.
Structural firefighting, we wear 50lbs of Bunker-Gear including air-pack. On a hot summer day, sucks the life outa ya.

Maybe I'm really Canadian & just don't know it.
