All -

Rich has kindly offered to make me a Higgins Howler for dupin' dogs in these parts. He suggested I ask any of you who have one to please post a picture of it. That way I'll be able to choose the look and/or style of the howler he is going to make for me.

Rich -- Thanks in advance for the wonderful gift!

Hey Tripp,

I'd post a pic of mine, but she's getting kinda rough around the edges. I sent it back to Rich for re-work once, but ended up paying a King's ransom to get it back. [Smile]

Regardless, my collection is now approaching seventy calls and my Higgy Howler is still the flagship of my collection, along with my circa 1960 Weems. I've yet to bring her out for a demonstration, either to individuals or groups, and no sooner than I let the first lone howl out and you can hear the viewers just gasp and start chattering amongst themselves. Hands down the best damned call you'll ever own.

LMAO,

Them there is some fancy calls, fellers, but in all seriousness, Tripp hasn't seen one yet. (Yeah, I can't believe it either) So, here's mine. I lost the coyote inlay off the inside curve, but I keep mine covered with a buckskin cover to keep it from reflecting sunlight off its beautiful surfaces.

Jay,

Absolutely hilarious. I about spit out what I was eating I was laughing so hard. I'm gonna have Rich match your second pic!

Cdog,

Actually I have seen an original Higgy or two. Met Rich last year at Gerald Stewart's deer lease here in Texas. Spent two days with Rich and some of his incredible footage.

Thanks guys -- keep em coming!

It's been pointed out to me that you wanted pictures of a Rich Higgins made howler.

Mine was made by a different Rich.

But in all Fairness to Mr. Cronk, who made mine. It was "Lost" and left out in the weather for over a year. It may be ugly as sin, but it still works beautifully.

I've seen several of the calls that Rich Higgins produces. Including Leonard's. If you can get something like Leonard's for under a grand, you got a hell of a deal. It's by far the most beautiful looking, and sounding howler that I have ever heard or seen.

When are you getting mine done since you gave it away at the PM Hunt?

Hell, any would do.

Mine looks like: first photo, all black like the first howler, but the medallion is like #4.

Second photo: mine is like the last one.

They are all gorgeous, but mine is particularly beautiful.

Thanks again, Rich.

Good hunting. LB

Congratulations, Trip.

You will be a member of one of the most exclusive Clubs in all of predator hunting; the owner of a Higgins Howler.

For the rest (alas) do not bother asking or begging. He will call you.

Good hunting. LB

I agree. But, the situation is that some guys have no shame, and Higgins doesn't know how to say "no". I'm only trying to protect him.

Good hunting. LB
