It's been a long time since this question popped up at PM, but it's baaaacccckkk!!! At least, sorta. First thing I saw when I jumped over there. [Big Grin]

http://www.predatormastersforums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat= 0&Number=52226836&an=0&page=0&gonew=1#UNREAD

Not trying to start a board war or anything, and not to speak poorly of PM, 'cause I ain't, but for such a long time, many of us would inject levity into a thread by popping that question, "What's your favorite country song?" at the least expected times. Oh well, the more things change,...

I clearly remember the first episode, Lance. It was like; "give me a break, that's a lame question on a legitimate (predator hunting) message board".

Actually, as a reality check, it sort of snaps your head back. When you talk about music, in general, there is so much diversity. You can't get three different people to agree on music. Hip Hop; what's that? Rap? drives me nuts. Heavy metal; it really irritates me....see what I mean?

Good hunting. LB

For years it's been Jessie Colter's "I'm not Lisa"

But the older I get, the more I like Gretchen Wilson ( I think it's her song ) and "My Give a damn's busted"

True country music is almost gone now, and that is a sad thing. For now I'm gonna go with "I walk the line" by the late Johnny Cash.

At the moment I'd have to say "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I was listening to it as I read this thread... this latest CD is his best of all time.

Brad, I was sure that it would be "Black Betty" by now. I love getting Brad in a truck, I force feed him all types of rock, heavy metal, and country. I like it all, even a little Eminem now and then.

I like the older singer's the most[50-70's songs].

My favorites;
1. Green Green Grass Of Home [Charlie Pride?]
2. I Walk The Line [Johnny Cash]
3. Amanda [Waylon Jennings]
4. Angle Flying To Close To The Ground [Willie Nelson]

I've heard one recently that I really like, "Clothes don't make the man" by Kieth Anderson. There's also one on Big & Rich's about "used to be a blind man and now I see" or something to that effect that's real good. Too many old ones that are great to pick favorites.

You mean Big and Rich have more than one song? I just figgered it was the same melody, different words. And what's with the dancing dwarf? Hell, that even offends me!

I have found myself waking up singing "Black Betty" this week. If you haven't heard this song you are truly missing out. Let Cal know....I'm sure he would burn you a CD. Eminem, is that who that was? For the love of God!

I would hope that's the "Wo ho Black Betty, Bam alam" type original Black Betty. There can NOT be a better version!

Man, I expected to take a shot or two about even knowing who the Willis Brothers were, but that Bolten/G shot was below the belt! [Roll Eyes]

I'm sure I've posted the story of my now ex-wife leaving a Bolten tape in my truck that I mistakenly took calling - probably at least 20 times...
Scarred me for life, I'm now only a mere shadow of the man I once was....

Melvin, you ain't alone at all there. I like BG a lot too. It kinda gets dumped to the back of my mind a lot of the time since there's only one station around that plays it, and then only an hour a week, when I don't get to the rajio. Buying cd's unheard rubs me the wrong way too soo..

Y'all know the funny thing about all these "tastes" in music? I posted this thread tongue in cheek as a joke. The calling must be really bad to have caught all you sitting at the 'puter. [Smile]

Side bar: Does anyone else use Ares Music sharing? For those that might not known, music sharing is the "in" thing since the Napster decision. At this site, you can join in and download for free just about any song you'll hear on the radidio. Download about 16 of them and burn a CD of all songs you like to hear. My niece and her boyfriend got me lined out on it.

If you are strictly looking for vocal quality and don't mind easy listening, Simon from American Idol went on a search for some of the greatest male voices he could find and put together "Il Divo". They were featured on Oprah. They are from Mexico, the U.S., Spain and one other country. One of my favorite songs of theirs would be "unbreak my heart".

As far as old country, I probably enjoy Marty Robbins as much as any singer. Don't know if I could peg down one song. Perhaps "run'n gun" or "El Paso". Next favorite would be Merle Haggard's older songs.

Blue Grass would be Alison Kraus and Union Station's "Man of Constant Sorrow" as featured in Brother Where Art Thou starring George Clooney.

Then I can make the jump to Green Day. "Wake me up when September ends", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Holiday". Kindof a revitalization of the good rock music we had in the 80's.

Favorite all time band was Boston. Every song on their first album. Unparralleled guitar mixes.

Favorite rock song "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. Unequaled drum licks.

Favorite male voice would be Roy Orbison. Country band "The Mavericks" lead singer is very close to sounding like Roy Orbison. Can't think of his name.

Current favorite country song would be Miranda Lambert's "Kerosene".

Recent pop/hip hop song would be "Callaback girl" by Gwen Stefani.

My taste in music runs the spectrum from popular, country, bluegrass, and rock.

I hate rap other than a few of Eminem's songs. His lyrical talent is undeniable.

Long live King George!

I think Sarah Evans is hotter than Shania even after 3 kids and a better singer.

One of the all time best written songs is "I hope you dance" by Leann Womac.

Suzy Boggus is still my favorite female vocalist with "Aces" and "Letting go". Dolly runs a close second.

Sorry, can't peg down one song!
