You guys wanted a Leonard story. Here's a short clip.

Keep in mind this is going back years ago and its accuracy may be diminished a bit.

You know when you've been out for a couple of days and nights, (that's the way we did it back then) and you are dead tired and the tank is out of calories and food is taken over your thoughts you become fixated on having a nice home cooked meal, not some Denny's wanna be breakfast.

Daylight has arrived and still driving East in Utah we spot down the highway a singled out building and gas station with a home made sign that say's Mom's Cafe.

I know what your thinking right now and so were we, what a deal this has got to be great, vissions of ham, steak, eggs, the works. My tummie is really starting to growl now.

We open the tattered screen door and walk into the cafe with all of 4 tables that didn't match and unmatching chairs. This all added to tthe flavor of the place and our expectations grew even higher.

Dum da Dum Dum--Mom sho's up from the rear of the building---She also was the Post Master, and probably the mechanic for the gas station as well.
She was a sweet old Grandma type with strands of grey hair, heavy set and wearing Sears and Roebuck Bib overalls. Picture Aunt Bee on the Andy Griffith Show.

The suspense is building as we take a seat and she hands us a hand written menue, we could smell the aroma of the coffee--it smelled soooooo gooood. She asked if we would like a cup.

Without question mam----Leonard pipe's up, and a little creme and sugar as well.

ran out of room.

We got our coffee and started deciding what we wanted, we didn't have to look at the menue as we had already been salivating on our personal preferances. It was damn near everything on the menue. We couldn't stop talking about how lucky we were to find such a quaint place.

Leonard orders crisp bacon and eggs, with eggs broken and cooked hard hash browns and pancakes.
I order the same with the exception of the eggs which I always ordered over easy to piss Leonard off as he hated the sight of runny eggs.

We could hear good old mom in the back cooking away as we sipped our coffee. Several minutes pass and out she comes with the grub. The pancakes were gooey, Leonards bacon was dripping grease, his eggs were soft, and the hash browns could have been used for hamster bedding.

In short the breakfast was unedible except for the coffee and syrup.

Mom strolls buy with a sinister grin and says your not hungry--at that point Leonard gives her what for
and we packed up and left--still hungry and pissed.

Without a doubt the worst breakfast this side of fear factor.

The one thing mom did give us though was another memory.

The coyote hunting was lousy as well--this was back when 1080 was in wide use.

Yes, Mom's Cafe. Still the worst prepared breakfast I ever failed to eat. That woman was right out of The Twilight Zone.

Pat, don't you see the slidebar? There is all the room you want, just keep typing. LB
