I'm so used to going out back and finding the cat food dish empty along with a pile of coyote scat next to it. Nothing new for me around the farm. Well, I just thought after a long day of steam cleaning my carpets I would take a stroll out front and check my lavendar and sage.
As soon as I stepped out onto my front deck I could see it over by the railing. Another visit from a coyote and clear as day, I could see a slimy mouse still in tact. From the head to the feet to the tiny slimy tail. That's the most detailed pile of scat they have left me yet!
How rude! I'm wondering if maybe I should leave a roll of toilet paper out there for them. I guess after this storm rolls through for the next couple of days, it's time to camp out on the back deck at night with my rifle and start watching the back pasture.
Well, gotta go clean the deck now ![[Mad]](mad.gif)

Could you determine direction?

Without snow on the ground Leonard, I won't be sure exactly. I either have pasture, lawn or gravel, so no dirt to leave a print in the rain. They take one of two pathes and each one can be seen from the back deck. I know the one path for sure because we always get pictures of them on the cuddy back camera. This other path I watched them use it last year.
I found it really interesting to see that the mouse didn't look like it digested in it's system.

CW, that sounds a lot like a mouse that has been heaved back up by a cat.
Somewhere around here i have a few pics that I ought to share with you. Until I taught 'em better the coyotes around here used to crap in front of the mailbox, on the sidewalk right outside the door, and IN the cat dish. As much as we talk about "educated" coyotes it took about 4 years to make a serious impression. I lost track at 16 or 18 "educated" ones sometime during the 3rd year that were shot within 100 yards of the house.
They're about due a refresher coarse, a batch of young ones ran down the driveway while I was standing in the yard a few weeks ago.
Don't let 'em push you around! ;D

no Joe... it was definately mixed in with the scat just fine... lol
Shadey wouldn't go out for the night around 10:45 pm unescorted. I had to stand on the deck while she went and did her thing. She kept on looking at the side of the house rather on the cautious side, where my jeep was parked. I have a feeling it was there at the corner already.
The cuddyback pictures were all taken between 11pm and 1am so this would fit in with the time frame.
Don't you worry, I won't let them push me around. Saturday night it will be me, my .243, Krusty's call and my binoc's.

Sounds like you need to offer them some good probiotics to get their plumbing in shape so they stay healthy enough to get good fur. Then again, it might be "intersting to hear "Bang...thwack..splaaaaattttt...splaaatttt...splaaatttt!!!!!!" as he shits all over himself from being shot. Talk about Eewwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!
Alright, I agree. That was totally unnecessary. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

My partner at work, came in this morning telling me that I need to go catch the big bobcat at his place that keeps eating his cat food.
He said that he is sure that it isn't another Lion, as the tracks are only 3.5-4" wide. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
