Tom. I think Q should run for president, but he is still a kid. We are going to have to wait a few years. Tim is eligible, not sure about Cal.

I just got off work and ran to the store and grabbed a copy. Q didn't actually write this piece. It was written by someone else. Q, along with Les Johnson, both Borlands and a couple other callers, contributed their knowledge and expertise to the piece. A very good article.
Except, for one remark in reference to Quinton. The author stated that Q keeps his shots to "his effective range - usually under 400 yards."
I guess he's never seen Quinton shoot. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

I hope I didn’t make an ass out of my self. LOL I have looked every where and can not find a copy of Outdoor Life. LOL Had the girl friend looking today also and she drew a blank. What a deal eh? Anxious to read it myself.

Discernable is all a matter of just how close you wanna get to look for it. I know who you're talking about, but I already got in trouble with one advertiser this life time for sharing my thoughts out loud. I think I'll just sit on my fingers and watch the rest of you "talk".

I'm not really stirring, too much. If so it's only with an index finger not an oar.
I like to hear the tales of y'all getting together and tearing up the country side. I have not seen Outdoor Life yet but I did manage to get my paws on a copy of the new Predator Hunting last night. Great as always. Also King's Hunting had a couple good articles that I skimmed while at the grocery store.
You guys that write prolifically and hunt with proficiency are the envy of many, my own self included.
We had a good early snow here last night, an inch or so. I think I am going to scatter the countryside with some sonic treats to see what's lurking about.

Yes Howler, it is good to hear positive feedback. Les Johnson made a nice post over on PM about it also. I can’t wait to read it. LOL It was quite an honor to be interviewed for such a large scale publication like that. Thank you. I am glad that McKean was happy with all of your prospects Howler.
Have you heard from Brett? I’ll bet he is cleaning up this time of year. I have only been working on the coyotes for 7 hunting days and am at 23 for the season. Got started in KS on the 11 of this month for a 4-day hunt and put in a few more when I got home. Posted some pics on the Mid West board.
After the first of Dec I should be able to pick on them a little more consistently but untill then I have a lot of work to get done. LOL

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the OL article Q. Outdoor life and Field and Stream have been in a downward spiral for years as far asI'm concerned. Glad to see them pick up the pace. I've always had a personal thought that there are hunters that write and writers that hunt. I prefer the former to the latter. And I have been around Q just enough to know that he is a hunter first. Another way to look at it is that with or without any magazine articles, Q would spend the same amount of time in the hills. The guys that irritate me a little are the guys that are just in the hills to get something to write about and if they didn't have the writing gig, they wouldn't be out there. I think Lance (although I don't really know him well) and I know myself, Higgins and a few others would hunt probably as many days a year regardless.

I just finished reading the Outdoor Life article.Very well done indeed Q.Very good information for both newcomers to the sport and for the seasoned callers alike.It is nice for a change to see some good info on Predator Hunting in some of the bigger publication magazines.Les had some great info in the article to boot.

I got the new OL in the mail yesterday Quinton. Don't worry, it turned out good. I enjoyed the read. Interesting seeing the varied techniques between a few different successful callers. Well done.

What I find great about it is that those big rags don't usually bother to put up a piece on calling predators until after all the other critter seasons have come and gone. We're just an after thought, when there's nothing else left to do. That's why that OL cover caught my eye. But, as I told Q on the phone, I picked it up and looked at it the night before Tom started this thread, looked at the front page of the article for the author's name and didn't recognize him. I figured he was just another deer or duck hunting writer that ran out of new stuff so he was broadening his horizons by writing yet another calling 101 piece. Had I bothered to read any of the article, I might have noticed that the first two words - in big bold letters - were "Quinton Wagoner".
I know. Shame on me. LOL

I was hunting and trapping before I started writing, and I guarantee you I'll be out there hunting after I give it up. Of course, by then, it might be illegal to hunt, or at least, to own a gun to hunt with. In that case, I'll pioneer the sport of calling coyotes to the 9-iron. Club the li' bastards. Talk about up close and personal. FOUR!!!

The guy that wrote the Article is Andrew McKean, he is a hunting partner of mine and a good friend, He has been writing for OL for a few years and now is an editor, I think this was his 2nd article on predator hunting. Andrew asked me for info on coyote callers who shot at aleast 100 coyotes a year and someone who did it using good hunting skills, He didn;t want someone who was a a promoter and more interested in telling the world what a good coyote hunter he was, Andrew wanted someone who was down to earth and someone who could teach us all something about calling coyotes. I got ahold of Q Wagner and Bret Miffenbeir and asked them if it would be alright if Andrew Called and talked to them about coyote hunting, I also Told Andrew to get a hold of Les Johnson, he is a promoter of some sorts but he is the real deal too. This all happend back in August. I suppose the reason it came out in December is that is generaly coyote hunting time for putting up fur. timing is everything as they say.

Well, he got the right guys for the piece then. If it weren't for us telling the world about Q, nobody'd know about him. Credit where credit is due. Same for Les. I've met him once before and he seemed very genuine.
