For any of you that will be flying for the purposes of hunting, you should know that the major carriers have come up with some especially objectional fees, very suddenly. Specifically TED United and Express/skyjet, but several others, as well.

Fuel surcharge is $20
second checked bag is $25
exceeding a total linear dimension of 115" length+width+width $100
exceeding fifty pounds $100

These charges are for each direction, and they will gladly add overweight + oversize but there is a chance to economize if you declare it as your first checked bag, therefore, the second checked piece will only cost an extra $25. What a Country!

I am (was) considering buying a seat for my rifle, I think it would be cheaper.....oh wait! I guess they might not allow that, since it could be considered a weapon?

Also, it doesn't matter that the ticket was purchased April 8 because they backdated the policy to April 4th, and it applies to the date of travel, regardless if the ticket was already bought and paid for. Again, they will happily collect all baggage fees at the counter at check in.

Exactly when will the Arabs be satisfied that they have enough money?

Good hunting. LB

Would it really be so wrong to invade Saudi Arabia, Iran and anybody else in the Middle East, that has a little oil? I mean, will the Europeans and the Chinese pat $220 per barrel? We don't know that, do we? From a fiscal standpoint, it makes a lot of sense.

Will the envirowackos go along, since we can't drill OUR oil? I'm guessing they wouldn't know whether to shit or go blind?

If we would just drill OUR oil, we wouldn't need Saudi oil, so wouldn't it just be smarter and more fiscally prudent to start drilling here at home rather than launch another war?

Maybe that's what we ought to offer the libs. Their choice. We either 1) invade Iran, or 2) repeal environmental laws that prohibit domestic oil exploration and the building of refineries. In the not so distant future, it will become apparent to everyone that those folks cannot and will not have their cake and eat it, too.

Then again, the problem you describe is just a small piece of their much larger picture. What's going on here is just what they want. In time, travel will become so prohibitive, for a litany of reasons, as will long distance trucking of goods and driving SUV's for that matter, that the American populous will abandon them in favor of something more affordable, like horses and gardening. When that happens, their ultimate goal of permanently reducing fossil fuel usage will have been attained, and a pleasant side effect will be that everyone with money will have been brought down through collective socialism to a more "modest" level and what's left of our country will be all the more dependent upon the government for our daily survival.

To "them", this is a sneak peek at Eutopia.

It gets worse. American Airlines announced today it will be charging $15 for the first checked bag. You heard me right, the FIRST checked bag.

For $15 I can box my clothes and mail them to my destination and have some certainty they will arrive on time.

....and the lunacy continues. United now will charge $15 for the first bag. Another airline will now start charging you $2 for a soft drink.

(To the airlines) Come on guys! This is down right stupid. Charge me $17 more for the ticket and let me check my bag and give me a free soft drink. Who are you kidding!

Well, I'm leaving in the morning, packed and repacked and weighed my bags. Such BS.

Don't burn the place down. Any problems, see Miss Joyce; she don't know it, but she has the POWER, or contact Code Enforcement, he knows the secret of the five finger five steps of death

A really, really safe trip.

Edit: I was trying to update my location. It didn't work the first time.

Cdog your spot on in a scatter gun sort of way...LOL. I just cant wait till there down to the level of oil just for shipping purposes and this country is by then miles ahead on electric run vehicles. I think it deseves a tweak.

I dont think drilling our oil is going to matter very much as long as the rich have interest in it. You can see the writting on the wall there.

I can see nuclear plants cropping up though in the future for our dependent use of electricty it would be in our best interest to keep those radicals dependent on oil, since they have displayed other ulterior motives, and when "Eutopia" is reached and the bottom falls out of the price of that oil. there is going to be some really mad apples over there, since nobody will trust them with technology.

Don't worry were going to be spoiled again the revoluton has already started for our brave new world, meanwhile the greenies will cheer on the sidelines like they had something to do with it and then they will have something else to cry about.
