Well, I have been on the "stock up" bandwagen this year like never before. Not so much rifle fodder, but factory handgun ammo of every caliber I own.
At least for me, and I'm sure I have gone overboard? I bought one box of 3 1/2" Winchester #4Buck even though I prefer the 3" shell because my gun doesn't cycle the longer shell as slick as I would like it to. But, in the spirit of "stocking up" I bought one box of 5 for $11.95. Expensive, but not when you consider what they get for HeviShot or Dead Coyote.
Anyway, yes, my reinforced shelving has not ripped off the wall as it did last summer but it's under strain. Not really, I really beefed it up.
My comment, before I forget is this: I saw two different brands of 22 long rifle rimfire ammo on the shelf! I can't remember the last time I saw that? And, this Federal Premium, it was a little less that 5 bucks a box but there were (didn't count them) but there might have been between 50 and a 100 boxes plus a few boxes of Eley. To me, that was a little astounding! But, I only bought 3 boxes. What the hell, every little bit helps. And, it is stacking up. I have more ammo stacked up than I have ever owned in my entire adult life.
As far as rifle, like a lot of you, I stock primers and powder and very well cared for brass, but not so many cases, probably 200/600 of anything but not more than that.
It's a little haphazard but it's building into quite a shitpot. If the balloon goes up, I could stand them off for a couple weeks, no problem.
So, the supply is catching up with the demand. One of the guys I saw there admitted he was doing exactly the same thing. It's just nice to actually see ammo on the shelf, looking a lot better than the previous 6/12 months.
